Goal kicks

As a great man once said.

No fucker ever conceded a goal from Row Z.

Get that thing hoofed and let’s get back to proper football.
Always remember going to a Blackburn game and hearing a yocal yell “Put it in melting pot, see what ‘appens” in the broadest Lancs accent.

Some people will never get used to keepers passing across their 6 yard boxes. The fear they feel is impulsive.

Took me until Peps 3rd season to stop stressing!!

No he hasn't, but there is a time and place for ticky-tacky short passing in the penalty area, especially when there are at least three opposing players hovering around.

I’m not sure you’ve been paying too much attention to the way we’ve been playing these last seven or eight years mate.

The more men they risk on the press, the more space there is behind them and the more likely we are to try and play through them to exploit that space.

Mixed up with an occasional long ball of course, so they know it’s always a possibility.

Agree there is a time and a place but that’s not what your original post said …
Goal kicks - boot it up the field preferably to one of your team but at least clear the danger areas.

And yet, and yet we scored after 12 seconds of a cup final by hoofing it and winning the second ball. Everybody does that KO now.

The current method of taking goal kicks by passing to defenders inside the box is fraught with danger. I have just watched the A-League game between Wellington and Auckland. In time added on Wellington's goalie really stuffed up with the distribution - result Auckland scored. And as Wellington were then chasing the game they were exposed to a counterattack which resulted in a second goal.

FYI - I support New Zealand teams against Australian teams unless it is Melbourne City - but I don't like Auckland teams in any sport so this result doesn't sit well with me.

The Pepification of football.

then we wait and wait right all back in position right on with the game

I see a lot of keepers boot the ball out of their hands and they are way outside their penalty area, but never gets pulled and commentators never mention it, just seems to be allowed these days along with foul throws.
