What is this 51% thing he talks about. I'm guessing that he's saying only nationals of a particular country can own 51%. But why? what is the harm?
- Is there a thought that this would prevent the billions coming in? It hasn't stopped the Europeans breaking transfer/wage records year on year.
- Is the thought that it'd prevent money escaping from the game in smaller countries? Maybe an Irish team could have got the Sunderland dosh or a UAE ours but somehow I doubt they would be bothered.
I'm not going through the other options as it's pointless. It's a silly argument. Whenever I hear these guys complain about the money in the game I think of them wasting time and energy that should be going into improving refereeing, introducing tv evidence, making the laws of the game more consistent, improving the banning rules for yellows/reds, etc (Hart as an example missing a final for a silly yellow - therse are real fucking people who's hopes are constantly dashed by ridiculous rules).
If the game ever dies it'll be at the hand of these bandits. If they really have some issues with the money in the game, make some fuckin rules and enforce them and then get on with it. They cry so loud 'cos they are incapable of ever doing anything constructive.
