That gets me every time I watch it.

Yes, it was a shitheap, but it was OUR shitheap.

I dont think any new stadium would have a good atmosphere regardless of location it would just be coms where maine road used to be, i dont understand all the reasons people give for poor atmosphere i.e we havent got a full stand together ( we have 3 by the way), the music is too loud ( well shout loader), the team needs to make the fans sing ( it should be the other way round) if people really wanted to sing there is actually nothing stopping them but after a game when the atmospehre has been bad the fans start looking at every excuse apart from the one that they just were not up for it!

We would never have been allowed permission to make Maine rd any bigger than it was.For example-the residents group kicked up a right fuss about tv reception possibly becoming impaired when the "new" Kippax was built....
If you look at most of the new stadiums, they are not built in residential areas like Maine rd was.Granted, there are houses situated near to Coms but they are not "around" the stadium....

Sadly, the Maine rd.site is forever consigned to history.

But if you want to talk about building a "new" Maine rd stadium on Platt fields park -I'm with you all the way!!

I miss Maine Road for sure, but Eastlands you cant miss it on the train coming into Manchester. All the Rags going to the swamp boo'ing and hissing at COMs because they know they'll never be as good/rich as City are.
