Waiting for Axelrod to return...
The Mail, surprise, surprise, have today done a story by chief reporter Matt Hughes.

Pathetically attempting to also cite Newcastle as also wanting to start up their own version of CFG, inferring City pay players and coaches via sister clubs...

Anyhow, they say the Premier League are about to introduce new rules to clamp down on inter-related payments via wider football groups like the CFG, to stay within FFP salary caps.

Mentions Mancini's two salaries with just a cursory nod that we weren't charged over it.

It seems the CFG, along with the current plans to also stop related party sponsors, is also now on the radar.

Firstly, as I understand it, we merely charge other clubs for the services we provide and most multi-national companies do this, have employee salaries spread across the group?

We do not pay players or the manager off the books.

I'm getting seriously pissed about the collusion and the Mail smearing us in any way possible.

Until the club take a stance it will always continue, I find the clubs willingness to bury it's head in the sand to be embarrassing.

High time we fought back and fight back hard, unless the club has lied, which I have no reason to believe they have, then we should not be taking this sh1t from the UK press.

I’m actually surprised it’s taken this long for the CFG to come under question with these idiots. Nothing wrong with the CFG, we’ve done something that no other club has attempted and they’re just coming across has bitter cunts with a big fuck off agenda.

I'm pretty sure this aspect was dealt with 6 or 7 years ago and such payments are routinely included in the annual accounts? Just seems like more shit-stirring.

My biggest gripe is that the club only wishes to cultivate newspaper relationships with The Sun and Daily Mail, the two worst offenders.

Martin Blackburn, Jack Gaughan and Martin Samuel, as a result of their own fair reporting.

However, the very papers who stick it to City in any capacity they see fit, most of the time.

Yeah we all getting pissed seems if city are they waiting till the final stitch up in ffp mark 3 rules come out!

Also said years ago that they will go after CFG because it’s a very good business plan that clubs like the scum scousers Arsenal are not going to do because of the cost and them yanks don’t like spending their own money!

They never go after debt they never go after clubs who have officer and hide there details in the Cayman Islands they don’t either go after clubs who get around not paying tax in this country while our club Do!

Nice for these history scumbag clubs to have 98% of the media on their side with never ending articles keeping the negative/Narrative mostly lies about our club going!

Shameful.

I expect to see a robust defence of our clubs activities and somebody high up in our hierarchy to make a statement condemning the article as falsehoods written with an agenda. We will the go... Ahh, who the fuck am I kidding.
I expect to hear fuck all from anybody at the club and the journo in question to carry on writing whatever he wants safe in the knowledge there will be no come back.
On and on it goes.

Why bother, we will just carry on winning titles that’s all that matters

Indeed, but I'd also like to see a little integrity in reporters who write about the club.
I appreciate that unicorn shit is more common than an honest sports journalist but I'm a positive chap so live in hope.

I suspect the heirachy at the club just laugh at these balloons

Tolmie is quite correct about how we deal with these payments and it's a normal part of group accounting. The group pay the wages and other overheads then recharge these. So instead of appearing in City's accounts as Wages, they appear as part of Operating Expenses.

You can even see this in the accounts. When the two central companies (CFM and CFS) were established, a number of staff were transferred from City to those 2 companies. So the staff numbers declared in City's accounts reduced, wages reduced but operating expenses increased, reflecting the change.

Many accused us then of "dodging FFP" but the overall impact on City's bottom line was minimal, maybe £2m, reflecting the costs attributed to the other group clubs. Also FFP rules were altered to bring those companies into our 'reporting perimeter'. So we were actually a bit worse off under FFP as we had to include costs for clubs not under the UEFA umbrella. So much for "dodging FFP".

I suspect this is partly why, about three years ago, we brought many of those staff back in-house as they were spending the vast majority of their time working for City. This was confirmed to me by Omar Berrada in December 2019. So staff numbers and wages went up, and operating expenses went down.

It's so fucking annoying that City don't come out and say this openly, relying on people like me, Stefan and others to do it. How hard would it be for them to use part of Pep's next press conference to make a clear statement correcting these fictions?

Can anybody more learned than me give any plausible explanation as to why the hierarchy at City don’t publicly defend themselves against articles such as this and countless others.

I’m sure there is a reason as to why the club continues to maintain its silence in the face of so many unfounded allegations but I just don’t understand it.

I’m surprised they haven’t yet targeted football groups. Since it’s our entire model it’s always been something I expected them to attempt to obstruct or damage in some way.

How do you know they don’t?
They may well defend themselves vigorously but are just not publicity whores like the red yanks.

At the next press conference, before the Everton game, instead of Pep sitting there on his own, what if Vicky Kloss, Ferran Soriano and Andy Young (the CFO) sat there and said "Before the manager answers any questions, we'd like to correct the article that appeared in the Daily Mail suggesting that we use City Football Group and some subsidiaries to somehow mis-state our accounts and thereby make them look more favourable for FFP purposes. Here are the facts that prove we don't, including figures from our published accounts. Following this there should be no excuse for suggesting we do mis-state the accounts and anyone suggesting otherwise will have no excuse or defence to any action we take against them".

It's out there in the public domain then.
