Im sure several of you have done this, but how do you go about buying your tickets?

These Viagogo and Seeticket type sites are legalised touting with the fees and all that they put on there.

So do you rock up to the ground and see if there are any official tickets left before haggling with a tout or try and get one officially before you go?

Bought one on the day to see Real Madrid a few years back, they were on general sale at the ground and there were plenty available.

No questions asked? On the day of the game or just before kick off or what?

We were on a short break and realised they had a game on one night, so we went up to the ground in the morning, went up to the ticket office and got 4 seats together, in fact we had a choice of where we wanted to sit in the ground. The only problem was our lack of Spanish, but i think they're used to tourists and it was'nt a problem.

Did Barcelona 3 weeks ago and went to the ground during the day and bought tickets for the match that night. No problem at all and there was loads of choice of seats too.

Just turn up a few days before the match or even on the day, certain seats you have to be a member to buy them though, obviously you'll struggle for the big games. It quite laid back with buying tickets for any game in spain I've been to a few grounds while on holiday.
I'd recommend for anyone in turkey and close to Istanbul to go and watch a Galatasary game. I say watch but you'll not only not see much but you'll also not hear much for the following week either.

Edit

Just saw your above post John I think you can still buy tickets for the roma matches at the roma f.c stores around the city.

Purchased Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia tickets all on the day with no need for the more expensive touts/websites.

I went to see Inter V Livorno once and you could buy tickets from Fan shops around the city on the day of the game. I asked for two tickets at the ground ticket office and he went to give me Inter v Liverpool the following week at Anfield.
same goes for most games in Germany. Just find a Fan shop and away you go.
