Good Christmas games?

Carcassonne is simple to play but endlessly complex tactically. It's also very different.

Ticket To Ride combines all the best aspects of both board and card games.
Ticket to Ride is OK. I found Carcassonne to be complicated, but only played an iPad version.

Dobble is very good for all the family. It's quite cheap too - around £10. It's a bit like Snap, but there are lots of pictures on each card, and one of them always matches the card in the middle. You have to say the name of the matching picture. E.g. Moon. The first person to find the match with their own card wins both.

The Chameleon.

This is a brilliant game, for around £20. We played it a lot these last two evenings, with five playing. A category card is chosen, with 16 items that fit the category. An item is selected from the category, and revealed to all but one player (the chameleon). Everyone has to say just one word that links to the selected item, and the chameleon has to say one also. He can base his word on other answers, or he can just take a punt from the 16 items in view. You then discuss who the chameleon might be, and vote on who it is. The chameleon then guesses what the item is, based on the linked words.

There is a YouTube video giving a demonstration. We were in fits of laughter yesterday, as people make very tenuous links, and some incorrect ones, in an attempt not to give the selected item away.

Eg. Category is Sci Fi films, selected item is Blade Runner. Linked words were Speed, Wednesday, Ford, Sharp, plus one other. They thought Wednesday was the false clue until it was explained that a football team shares the same city. Then the two football fans knew it was a correct link.
