Standing firm, sticking up for my beliefs and not
City manager Roberto Mancini’s claim that Swansea will be an “easy” three points for United has been dismissed by the Welsh club’s manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Mancini said United will coast their way to a “10-0” win over Swansea and move a step closer to retaining their title on May 6. But Rodgers said: “What Roberto said was probably a bit tongue in cheek in fairness. What we have shown over the course of the season is our competitive nature.

“We might be a way down the scale in terms of many things at this level, but one thing that’s guaranteed is that when you play Swansea it’s going to be a competitive game and a difficult game. I’m sure Roberto knows that.

“He only has to assess the games he has had against us. For an hour we were the better team up there, and in the second game we kept a clean sheet and won.”

O'Neill is angry too, LOL.

Martin O'Neill has taken a swipe at Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini for claiming playing Sunderland is an "easy game."

The Wearside chief hit back at Mancini yesterday telling him to "watch what you are saying" - and said the comments would linger in his mind during his reign at the Stadium of Light.

Mancini attempted to rule City out of the title race last weekend by saying rivals Manchester United have "two easy games" after the giants clash on Monday night, those being against Swansea and Sunderland.

That has caused offense to O'Neill whose chairman Ellis Short stated last month the biggest mission is gaining respect from top clubs, and ensuring they get a tough game when in the North East.

O'Neill said: "I don't have an email address for him but I really thought about sending him one to tell him to keep an eye on what he says, but I didn't."

Sunderland face Sir Alex Ferguson's men in what could be a title decider on the last day of the season, and have already proved no push over against City this season.

O'Neill added: "He had obviously forgotten to check the fixtures list properly. We have taken four points off (City), but they have actually lost five points against us this season. But I think you just have to shrug it off and remember it for the next four years.

"I don't know what his insinuation was to tell the truth. But if he had any idea about the league at all he would know that the integrity of the league is pretty good.

"It is hard for someone else to come in and tell who to play, or not to play, but there is still that feeling you want to win the matches."

Sunderland can have a hand in the relegation battle today against Bolton, with some fringe players in line for a chance to show their worth.

O'Neill added: "Since relegation has not been an issue you look to re-set targets and top ten would be terrific, secondly we need to score a goal to win a game and that is pretty important. We have to turn draws into wins and finish the season strongly."

Saying that United have two easy games after the derby was a masterstroke by Mancini....well, it will be if it works!

I still think O'Neil's comments regarding the FA's condemnation of Mick McCarthy's squad rotation is a bit ominous ....

"but you have an allocation of 25 players and it is hard for someone else to come in and tell who to play and not to play. There is still that feeling you want to win the matches and we still want to finish in the top 10 this season.”

I know this story about him slinging in the youngsters for the run in has been quoted on here before, I just hope that we don't need Un*t*d to lose there for us to win the league 'cause it seems pretty clear to me what his intentions are for this last game, and I don't look forward to it one bit.
