Good sat nav / maps app?

Looking for a good IPhone based sat nav / maps type app.

Specifically one that shows that there are traffic jams ahead and gives you alternative routes so you can swerve them.

Bluemoon’s advice would be invaluable…..

Not a satnav but as someone who travels to the Midlands 2-3 times a week my tip is avoid the M6 South from the Taberley Interchange, it’s been a nightmare recently, just look for alternatives.

Waze is excellent. I actually prefer the interface of the stock Apple Maps app, but the extra information and functionality of Waze makes it the best one by far.

It’s particularly good at traffic information (when you’re in/approaching a jam it gives you a fairly accurate little progress bar of how long it’ll be), speed camera and police locations (good if you’re into a bit of *cough* spirited driving) and fuel stations with prices.
