Good watch brands

I've got one of these had it over two years now and unlike most of the watches I've had I am yet to get bored of it and want a different one.

It’s not new (2007 production year) but again says it comes with original box and papers. It’s not cheap by any means but it does look nice.

Any expert eyes to tell me it’s a shit knock off?
Breitling make some nice watches however have in mind that their aftercare costs (servicing, batteries if quartz etc) are quite simply extortionate. They also require servicing more often than an equivalent Omega Or Rolex who they see themselves as competing with.
Also, a watch of that age would have a movement made by somebody else so personally I would stick to an omega,Rolex if budget allows, or maybe an Oris or Tag Heuer if your budget is a bit less.

You could do a lot worse than go For the Tag carrera you posted earlier and maybe add the Orient dive watch someone posted as a daily wear and beat up watch. They’re only about £200 and are fabulous value for money.

Good post, some great advice here.

Certain watches shout 'watch guy' to the trained eye. Easy to spot, but it's not always obvious.
I've struck up many a convo with someone who is wearing an interesting piece, they always turn out to be knowledgable.
If someone owns an oris, they haven't bought it by accident or coincidence, as it's off the radar to most. Any watch on a nato, usually a watch guy.
Speedy on vintage leather, watch guy. Tag monaco, seiko skx, any orient, even the vostoks, all usually mean the same.
It's the first thing I look for when meeting someone.
Yeah, I know, i'm weird lol

You’re not alone mate. I also always have an involuntary glance at someone’s wrist when talking to them.
Completely agree about Oris. I have the Aquis and for £1100 brand new when I bought it five years ago it has been simply unbeatable value. The fit and finish is as good as any watch costing two or three times as much, it has the SW200 movement which is an accurate workhorse and easy (and relatively cheap) to service, and the quality of the bracelet is as good as I have seen from any Swiss brand below Patek.
If you like Orient give the bambino small seconds hand a look. £200 new, has a look of the seamaster small seconds watch. Just swap out the shitty leather strap for something a bit better and it’s an absolute steal.
I could talk about watches all day. Love them.

I saw a programme recently on Bremont watches. I liked the look of them. The name isn't too familiar to me.
Are they worth the price.

@FantasyIreland is the go to oris guy, he has 6!
Thats quite a claim re the bracelet, must be well made, never handled one, respect your opinion.
I like the orient chronos, love that movement. Other orients (apart from the divers) are a bit small for me, including the bambino (I know, it's a dress watch). Agree though it's a great piece.
Been scouring e bay again tonight, just as i've got my collection down to 4....

Not weird at all I get this all the time, and when spotting watches too, I have an omega sea master, a Breitling navitimer world - but the one that sparks a conversation is my IWC spitfire strangely - think it’s more of a watch mans watch than the others to be fair.

I miss my wavy dial bond seamaster. Lovely watch, the 9 link bracelet was a work of art.
Yeah the IWC certainly fits the bill.
You have good taste sir

By far the IWC is my favourite watch. My mate has just started working for a particular company that sells high end watches so I can now get 40% off watches. I have literally spent the time since he joined selecting my next watch lol

What's on your list mate?

IWC portugieser, hublot fusion, patak philippe Calatrava or a Bremont Wright flyer if I can find a decent one at the right price.
The IWC is a bit of a grail of mine, it's stunning. One day maybe.
Hublot I can take or leave if i'm honest, a bit too new money for me, but I get it, great design, look great on a young chap, which i'm not.
Patek, even at entry level, I cant afford or even try to justify it. Pinnacle of watchmaking, but I will never own one. No sour grapes here, but the patek with the tv dial, cant remember its name, is a bit ugly.
The wright flyer i've only seen pics of, love that crown, cant seem to find an rrp on it.
Not that you asked for my opinion, but i'd be more than happy to have any of those on that list.
Like I said, you have good taste.
Jammy twat ;-)

Shit shit shit.

so I’ve just found this which I personally love. It’s from 2004, anything about it look dodgy at all?

Starting to wish my Mrs hadn’t asked my opinion now. I’m fucked if I can make my mind up and whatever I choose will no doubt be wrong.
