Good watch brands

I’ve never really been into watches. But having read through this thread, all I’ve done for the last two days is look at watches online.

My budget would be nowhere bloody near £10k… I reckon £1k would be stretching it. But - like anything - finding good quality at a good price is often quite a cathartic exercise.

I think I’m going to be purchasing a decent but moderately priced watch this year, off the back of this thread.

Good German watches (with a Swiss movement) can be had for under a grand.

I bought a Corum Bubble (Swiss watch) from New York 13 years ago, it was $800 but £800 over here, the exchange rate was 2 dollars to the pound. They are selling around £1200 - £1500 second hand on eBay now so do a bit of research and see if you can buy an investment watch. I’ve just had mine refurbished but the repairers couldn’t source the original strap and crown so mine is probably about £800. If you do buy one, keep the box, apparently adds to the value. Attached is similar to mine but of course I bought the Blue version.

I have been into watches for years..truthfully you can not go wrong with a rolex submariner..my son had a cardiac arrest ..I always wished to give him my Sub when I passed..He was in St Thomas's and staring at the watch..took it off ,gave it to him and said please God do not go through that again. It was the green Sub. a special edition...bought it for 5k maybe 6 years ago, now going for about 16k !!!
Have a nice Panerai, a JLC too and a couple of Breitlings, but nothing has appreciated like the Rolex.
If you want a superb watch, under the radar, look at Grand Seiko..stunning quality.

You might be interested in this watch, then.
