Even if it is only down to 200 seconds from 2.5 days (if legitimate), that is a substantial leap and has significant implications in-of-itself (algorithmic investment possibilities alone).

However, if full-fledged quantum computation (based on current theoretical capabilities) ever comes to fruition—and depending on who controls that system—everything will change. Though, most of us will likely have no idea for some time, as it will likely be used in secret for quite awhile to maximise the period of advantage (as basically all current, commonly used data encryption will be effectively useless, and the more malicious parties that could have this technology will not want governments and wealthy/influential entities to know that is the case).
