Joe Corrigan at Leeds in an FA Cup tie made a much better save than Banks under similar circumstances.

Pele's header hit the ground so that helped Banks as he was diving anyway. I don't he'd have got it if Pele had headed it in the top corner. Plus Banls was already moving towards the ball.

Corrigan's was far better because the ball was delivered to a Leeds player in a very similar way but he headed it back across the goal towards Clarke and Corrigan was committed. Clarke headed it high towards the corner but somehow Joe twisted his body in mid air and just got enough on it to take the sting out of it so Mike Doyle could clear. Anyone who was there will tell you it looked a certain goal and what a stunning save it was.

I seem to remember Blue Peter having a "Greatest Save Ever" type competition and I am sure that Big Joe's save V Leeds came 3rd behind Banks in 2nd and Alex Fucking Stepney (against us I think) in 1st!!
 
Banks save was fucking awesome, the bounce didn't really do him any favours as he had to readjust mid dive to react as it clearly bounced more than he was expecting, not to mention the ground he covered to get to it in the first place
 
Whether or not its THE best save, i dont know, but it was a hell of a good stop.
What i noticed more from the clip was the outrageous pass down the line from the back for the Brazilian winger to run on to! Outside of the foot spun pefectly around the fullback right into the wingers stride. Fucking awesome.

It was the world cup and it was the worlds best player v the worlds best keeper.. thats the difference..

Pity he was slower than a week in jail with the first goal though.
