Daniel Taylor from the Guardian just posted this on Twitter:

"Checked out the #MCFC link with Yoann Gourcuff - turns out they did ask about him in May but, key point, they haven't followed it up"

Hmmm was excited about the prospect of him signing a few months ago but after the signing of Silva and seeing Gourcuff in the world cup I have my doubts.

Come off it Nt. You can't judge ANYONE in that France team after that WC surely?

Watching the behavious and performances of Evra would you think this is the guy that has been Uniteds best player for 3 seasons?

Ahh true but where does he fit in ?

He may possess more natural ability than Milner but the latter can at least defend as well as attack.

I'd heared a lot about this guy being the new Zidane but forgot to look out for him for Bordeaux. Then during the World Cup I saw a player that was so bad I thought he had wandered on from the stand his passing was that awful. His name was Gourcuff.

Unless it was a one off I wouldn't want this guy over Milner or just about anyone. He made Caicedo look good.

until he got sent off I thought he was one of the more effective frogs - quick, good in air too with 2 good feet

Just my opinion, but Gourcuff is one of the most overrated players in the world. I've seen quite a bit of him in the last two seasons, and even in a very poor French league he had a tendency to drift in and out of games. No question he has bags of technical ability, but for the moment he is genuinely no better than Ireland, not a patch on Silva, and almost the same age as both of them...
