Gov iniative #knifefree to be put on fried chicken boxes

Absolutely no interest in the Lammy stuff, but genuinely - what makes you think this is a great idea? Do you think *anyone* who carries a knife is gonna look at a chicken box and go 'actually yeah, ill change now'? They've all most likely had police, friends, family and more preaching to them at some point to not get into trouble. Why would this have even 1% of the impact of that... really don't get it.

They've actually been doing it for ages, and it's obviously not had any impact no violence levels. They just chose to announce it yesterday for some unfathomable reason.

Probably not Steve.......but then what harm can attempting to intervene, even at such an incredibly basic level, cause?

Of course other factors and intervention techniques need to resourced and employed, but my point is.....this does no harm.

Knife crime is precipitated by culture, a culture in the young underclass who are heavily influenced by violence and crime. The same culture that teaches kids to be suspicious of the police and that it is not cool to go to school.

The differentiator is parenting, it is the job of the parents to teach kids right or wrong but what is right or wrong has broken down. Even the parents themselves exhibit the same behaviour and likely have history.

Obviously young kids have to be given a purpose which includes jobs, education and youth services etc. I don't care about that though, the most basic human values teach that you don't kill people or get involved in crime regardless of whether you have a job or not or can go to a youth club, it's just a pathetic excuse.

Common decency and respect is dead and it is shown on this forum by people who take political shots to blame the government and/or police instead of the people murdering others in the street.

This isn't a great idea but at least it raises awareness to young people as clearly a minority have no awareness or care whatsoever for their actions.

Great post mate.

It often seems a section of society is more concerned with finding reason to be outraged, and providing excuses for the offenders, than they are with dealing with the problem and those that cause it.

It's very odd.

Is there any evidence that this works?

Seems a waste of money to me. Most gang lads would laugh at it.

I'm with you and @twosips on this one.
They'd be better off putting a slogan on the box saying that eating KFC excessively can cause obesity. I'd say more people die from associated health issues.
That might have a knock on affect of saving you millions in the NHS.
