Interesting to read the Hansard extract. I think everyone that spoke* was in favour of its introduction. *The minister responsible Tracey Crouch effectively dodged any decision by sponsoring some data analysis on PL and Championship injury data to determine if current injuries are in any way associated to ‘unlawful’ standing at football matches. That review will almost certainly find that the injury data kept by football clubs is not specific enough to determine route cause and we will get another delay. I wouldnt expect any meaningful decision making for another year I’m afraid despite the case for safe standing being very well presented yesterday.

Tbf, she would have no choice but to follow the procedure mentioned, even if she was a supporter of safe standing.

The question is whether they will now get on with it, including said procedure, thus get it done in reasonable time, or look to bottle out until after the next election.

signed the petition ages ago, not thinking it would go anywhere (as with so many in the past)
but it was debated on monday.
ive just watched it back (link below) and it appears overwhelmingly positive in favour of review and 'rail seating' as done at dortmund and the likes..

anyway, for anyone interested ive copied and pasted the email and links below:

Alex Sobel (Leeds North West) (Lab/Co-op)

On that point, a broad range of supporters have come to me in favour of rail seating. That includes a 24-year-old female Liverpool fan and a much older male Man United fan, both constituents of mine in Leeds, as well as a Leeds United supporter.

Plastics everywhere.

The Portsmouth MP's speech is well worth reading, very funny. He and the Southampton MP have a bit of banter.

It's all worth reading actually, good bit of lightheartedness in there.
