cbeebies is poo said:i do go out hiking quite often and thinking of buying a gps system for a few reasons and just looking for some advice.
I have had a look around and i see they vary in price somewhat and all do different things depending on how much you are going to spend?
so this is what im after
just do the normal stuff find out where you are? how high? etc etc
i have young children so maybe start with geocaching thing?
I use a mac and not sure how it works for example would like to plan routes with the 3d maps and then view where i have been when i have been out when back home?
Also the 3d maps look brill not only for myself but to use to show my kids what we would be planning to do or have done as i see this as a great learning tool?
any advice would be much appreciated thanks

PM me if you want more info. The 3d thing comes from memory map, and works with any GPS.

hmm.... No!
GPS will still work, even if West becomes North. It doesn't matter. Anytime soon might be 100 years or even more...

ermmm no!
If the magnetic poles did flip I think you would find humanity would be instantly transported back to the middle ages, all satellites would be rendered useless, the global power grid would crash, microchips would get fried even your good old compass would be f*****d!
Google "south atlantic anomoly" if you want to get worried!
