Over-trained, pumped full of steroids, whipped, ran to exhaustion and shot. Nope, never seen that in 'the wild'.
Not strictly true. They are herd/pack animals. That's why they'll continue to run and jump. In the wild horses very rarely jump up, it's not natural for them. But they are built to jump across. They have no other purpose unfortunately. They'd be used as working animals and treated a lot worse if they weren't in racing. Otherwise they'd be culled as their numbers would be uncontrollable. When a horse loses it's jockey, it keeps running and jumping anyway. They love it.

What self-justifying nonsense. Their purpose is to be an animal. They have no other purpose unfortunately. They'd be used as working animals and treated a lot worse if they weren't in racing. Who exactly is going to pay to look after them? What self-justifying nonsense. Their purpose is to be an animal.
If it results in me winning a few quid then they could be running starving children around that course
