Grant Imahara (Mythbusters) passes away aged 49

Grant Imahara has passed away aged 49 from a brain aneurysm.

A terrible shame for such a gifted and kind person to go so young. I watched that show whenever i could with Grant being someone who everyone universally loved for being so effortlessly polite and kind.

I was going to start a thread about him. My wife and I had dinner with him some years ago 3 or 4 times, right around when Mythbusters started. He was dating a good friend of ours (my brother’s ex-wife’s cousin in fact). She was actually part of his Battlebot team! He could not have been a warmer, more engaging fellow. After they broke up (amicably), we followed his career with great interest — living where I do, ILM employs a few of our friends and of course MB was a Bay Area show, filmed all around here. He had no ego, and he was bright and funny — on screen as he was in person. Just an absolute tragedy and a real loss. A lot of really nice things being said about him and our interactions with him underscore them all. Our friend posted “I would not be me without you.” RIP Grant.

One of my favourite TV shows, genuinely nice fella. When he first started on the show he was as nervous as hell but warmed up as each episode trundled along.
