Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

The bashing of a successful city player is weird.

Grealish has been a success, not Rodri or Kev level success but a success nonetheless.

Players move on all the time, this is no different. Recoup what we can and thank him for his contribution. That’s it really.

I will always remember his time with us fondly, well unless he becomes one of those players that’s slags off the club to the media.

I think we wouldn't even be discussing Grealish if Pep had either brought him to the CWC or the club had provided some plausible explanation as to why he didn't go.
I am aware of no reason why Pep didn't bring him, other than the myriad of unconfirmed rumours on this thread.
Chelsea brought 28, more than us.
Stones was brought along and I don't think he's kicked a ball yet.
I don't think its been good for Grealish or the club.

This is the difference between a supposed successful career and a stellar
Having an elite mentally is something Grealish doesn't possess
I think he'll be remembered for his Villa career, not his medal laden City one
Edit- until he's pictured shagging an alsation in a alley at Cafe Benidorm. Then it will be "Manchester City legend"
3xPL, 1xCL, 1xFAC, 1xESC, 1xCWC.

It’s not about turning on him, nobody has as far as I’m concerned, it’s still just a case of what could have been as in his prime to be one of the very best

So let me ask you this being as you’re all defensive about him and the other members of the treble winning squad, do you think he should have kicked on and done better, or are you one of those who blames Pep for the way it’s probably gonna turn out?
I'm not defending him, I'm supporting a City player.
Do you not think it's strange that the stories of his boozing have dried up?

Probably because there’s something more important happening with the squad at present, small matter of a CWC, as for Grealish who knows - be away somewhere having a nice time no doubt, ready to post a video or two showing him working his way back to fitness for the new season - so don’t speak too soon about stories as there’s over a month to go yet

Click bait media are way more interested in unfounded tittle tattle than the CWC

Like I say a month to go yet, for his own sake though I hope he isn’t pictured in some shit state and gets a move to re start his career, be it here in the uk or abroad, because it’s clear to me with the exclusion of him to what’s happening at present he isn’t part of the plans anymore, and that’s the reality some will have to get their heads around, like it or not

A lot of the folk who are backing Jack up are bashing our greatest ever manager.
Swings and roundabouts.

Same old shit in this thread. He wasn’t selected to be part of the squad for the cwc. Proper embarrassing for the lad. He’ll be cleaning boots for 2 years if he doesn’t find a move. Whether he’s a genius or not he wasn’t selected for a competitive tournament and is one of the highest earners. Poor PR.

Your first question suggests that your overriding feeling towards Jack is one of disappointment, and that certainly doesn’t dominate my thoughts on the subject - as much as The Second Coming doesn’t dominate my thoughts about The Stone Roses LP. If you want an honest answer, and seeing as you asked, I would say allowing that to happen when his time with City is plainly at an end, but was filled with so much joy previously, is a waste of emotional energy and displays a way of thinking that I find baffling and suggests a level of mental weakness; as if people want to focus on the negatives to no discernible benefit, when there are so many positive things to focus on.

In terms of your second question (which is conspicuously leading) the fact he’s dropped off in the last couple of seasons is down to a number of factors, but I wouldn’t say Pep was one of them. People have to take responsibility for their own shortcomings.
That’s a weird one though, mate. My overriding memory after he leaves will be one of disappointment and what might have been. He’s 100% not been what he could have at City, whether an element of that was down to Pep and his formations, who knows? One thing I’ve always said is we don’t see the training ground, and for Pep to never feel that Jack was capable of a run in the “8 or 10” position speaks volumes, imo. He was never a winger in a million years and consequently for me it’ll always be tinged with disappointment as I think he’s a cranking player that it’s never quite happened for as it should have. Again, how much of that is down to his off field antics, and he’s most definitely a drinker, we will again never know.

Surprised this is generating so much discourse!

He's a good player and good lad who has clearly been unprofessional off the pitch in a way that has been unacceptable since 1995, and that's cost him in place in a team that needed him and in a new system that he could have thrived in. The press aren't to blame for that, in fact the press have taken it very, very easy on him in a way I highly doubt a black or foreign player would have got.

Worse things have happened, he's always welcome back as a legend of the treble season, but he's only got himself to blame. Not Pep, not the club, not us. The fact there isn't a rush to take him off our hands tells you everything.

Any chance we can "trade" Jack to the rags for umm *commits sacrilege* Bruno?

We could do the "Welcome to Manchester" again too!

I'm joking.. but that would be funny wouldn't it?

Come to think of it, he'd love playing with Captain Bernardo, Ruben and Nunes and he could turn over a new leaf!

Assuming he has been unprofessional

I realized I hate Casemiro a lot more than Bruno after he tried to break Akanji's leg in the FA Cup final!

Didn't think it was possible to hate someone more than Bruno but yep.. I'm there!
