To be clear I mean that performance was the culmination of years of hard work, key players at their peak age, good recruiting and the fans totally buying in.

I’m not saying the achievement (beating Madrid) was the pinnacle of the pep era I simply mean that one performance was the best performance I have ever seen from any footballing side. And at that very moment the team had peaked.

We weren’t great in either final in the treble season as the side ran out of gas. Of course we won the league the year later but we weren’t anywhere close to that level. We just managed to grind it out.

His form after that wonderful night is the problem.

I would argue it was his availability rather than form. Season after the treble he got injuries and a stupid suspension that ruled him out of Villa away, a time when Doku was injured and he'd have started. He just didn't kick on for one reason or another but I do think the form side is a myth. When called upon last year he played well, granted it was largely cup games but you can only perform against what you are up against. Was playing well against Madrid at home last year, played a big part in the goal and then got injured....again. Pep didn't afford him a run of games, a chance to build any form or confidence because I don't think he started consecutive games all season. Pep will know why. It is time to go for Jack now.

Once Pep's mind is made up, he isn't going to change it. But I love Jack as a person and I do think he's a decent player. I hope we keep him and that he can find is treble winning form for us!

Good choice of club for him, and an obvious replacment for Maddison. It'll be good opportunity to see if he can do a central role and maybe get back to his best form when he was at VIlla. H

Yes but we've seen enough to know allowing people to see his form is the equivalent of putting your crisp white boxers on the washing line with fresh ripe skidders all the way down them and expecting someone to want to buy them.
