I'm not saying that exactly.

My main point was that a country with a population of 5.2 million isn't going to produce reams of famous albums and classic singles like The Colonel seems to be expecting them to.

And to widen my point a little, I'd say that most famous bands are synonymous with the city they're from. The Beatles, Liverpool. Elbow are from Bury but they're classed as a Manchester band. You get the idea.

I understand that The Jesus & Mary Chain were from East Kilbride (as I think were Aztec Camera) but I've heard many people lump them in with the rest of the bands Glasgow has produced over the

Anyway, here's a current band from Glasgow called CHVRCHES. They've had a couple of top 40 singles and their album's worth a spin or two if only for their knack of smashing out some great choruses:

Given the cultural similarities in the British Isles I think that it is a poor return. As I said, compare to Ireland.
Our of interest, who are your favourite Irish groups/singers?

Deserves another thread really but for me personally: the Boomtown Rats, Stiff Little Fingers and Thin Lizzy. I even liked some of Christy Moore / Planxty stuff and recently 2 door cinema club.

.... oh and err Snow Patrol

Discopolis
Camera Obscura
The Machine Room
we were promised jet packs
Indian Red Lopez
Maioux Miaoux
the Little Kicks
The Draymin

you simply have to remove the s from <a class="postlink" href="https://www" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://www</a> so that it becomes <a class="postlink" href="http://www" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www</a>

Dear God this is a poor return from an English speaking nation
... with only two or three major cities for talent to be plucked from.

Who says a band has to come from a city?

Let 'em laugh dob, they obviously haven't listened to the albums of superbly written songs or seen the quality live performances!
Dob and Bod eh? Sense a new friendship blossoming here.
Hi dob , Sounds more like the tellytubbies who failed the auditions!
Still , nobody has laughed at the Dels yet, and rightly so! ( nobody else has mentioned them either)
