were you one of the famous 3007 ?

come on now, you got 20k last season when tickets cost a tenner,

you are all so very quick to pull the "times are hard, loads of games coming up" cards. but soon as we get empty seats for games against lower opposition at full price you are jumping all over it.

i remember maine road having many empty seats for derbys, i also remember loads of united being in with city all over the ground.

this is your most exciting period as city fans with a squad worth 800million quid. and manchester is a big place obviously, so i see no reason whatsoever why city fans cant sell out with ease games in london, midlands or when you lot go to swansea.

your starting to get ripped off now big time for away games like us,liverpool chelsea and arsenal have for years. enoy it !!

Do one with your stupid digs.

United fan in 'City attendance obsession' shocker.

I don't give a fuck how many fans we have, you lot, on the other hand, do care about how many fans you have and is one of the main reason your glory hunting wankstains 'choose' yoonited.

I support City because we have a big fanbase...seriously, I do.*sigh*

its just double standards isnt it ?

people on here always seem to be touchy of it, and quick to defend it, hard times, holidays its harder to get to the etihad on a monday night as opposed to the weekend.

i dont give a toss how many fans/customers/admirers we have. i know that the majority of old trafford is now full of bell ends. but getting charged 50quid for a seat that in 2002 cost me 22quid a game doesnt sit well with many locals and time served out of town supprters. i just honestly think you should be selling out every home game and taking full allocations down south etc. seeing how you are going to be in a title race.

give it a few years and i can see you have the same discussion as we do.

Haha, yeah it is double standards. You've just moaned about paying the amount you're paying, as you're a "local", but when we do the same you say "you can't keep pulling that card".

manchester united v torpedo moscow 19998, 1992.

utd had won the fa cup in 1990, the cup winners cup final in 1991, and the league cup in 1992.

considering utd have an estimated 7/8 million fans in the uk, only 1 in about 400 turned up for this.

We can all pick on shit attendances and you've had your fair share over the years. I can remember derbies at old Trafford in the 80's that were thousands below capacity. Difference is, we don't claim to be the biggest club in the world. You're there to be shot at when you shoot your mouths off. We don't have a massive pool of supporters to dip into so yes, a full house on a Monday night in the current financial climate is a decent effort. Now get back to studying city's attendances in the after-school special needs club

It's not double standards. Your lot have a go at us, so we have one back. If you're not one of their ilk and care more about being ass raped by the Glazers than showing off that the seats you're forced to buy are full then I've got no issue with you whatsoever. Decent rags do exist. We've got a decent rag poster on here by the name of Viva Rivaldo with over a thousand posts. Try to be one of them instead of one of the sad ragcafe lot most of whom have never seen Old Trafford or 'have been to Manchester once and saw loads more Utd shirts than Citeh' brigade.

The legendary 1999 season... the rags treble winning campaign, probably the greatest time to be a rag, and I'm sure tickets were like gold dust.

The FA Cup semi against Arsenal, the replay at Villa Park, Giggs' famous goal... crowd? Less than 30,000 wasn't it?

We had a third division game that night at Maine Road and I do believe we matched that attendance!

The lowest FA Cup semi final attendance in modern times?

The rags v Crystal Palace, another replay at Villa Park... less than 20,000!

Can't get a ticket mate? Yes you fucking can!

I think you have to be pretty young and/or sensitive to give a flying fuck about anything a rag or bindipper has to say. I am neither.

Face-bothered??!!

4-0..Fuck the scouse bin dippers and rags it really does not matter. We can always sing we were there when we were shit!

My boy and I alon with most of the 46k went home happy and that is really all that matters.

Hey rag boy you need to work out some basic maths - allegedly you have 400 million fans; I am not sure what the cess pit holds is it about 73k? - so that means you get 0.02% of your fans regularly attending home games.

Now let's say the population of Manchester is 1 million, and half like football and half do not, and half of the half that does is Blue (and the other half scum) so that means we have 250k fans in Manchester plus say 50k in other parts of the country/world and say 46k gates, so that means we get 15% regularly attending home games. So that actually makes our attendance ratio 750 fucking times better than yours.

Also whay surprises me is that most scum fans I talk to (which admittedly is not many) say that most of your fans are from Manchester - hmm let me see, 400 million fans, how fucking big do you think Manchester is you prick?

Both cases they couldn't give us more tickets out of the un sold arsenal and palace fans. If you look where the empty seats are you will know... all I'm saying is you should sell out now. I envy you getting 4600 at bolton compared to our shite 2700, we are set to be given 1900 at Liverpool too. Which is sickening. I'm being honest you have never been just noisy neighbours etc. You are one of the bigger English clubs. I just feel there is no excuse to not sell out. I'm guessing you pay a lot less at home games ?

I'm sure you've heard the song "35 years and won fuck all".. yes?

Well in spite of that turgid success record we still averaged aound 45,000 fans.

In 1990, just before your success kicked in, even though you still picked up the occasional Cup trophy, you were getting crowds less than ours at the moment.

But after 20 years of unparalleled success you've gone from 40,000 crowds to 76,000 crowds... and in 20 years after we get success, do you not think we'll put on a similar increase in attendances?

If we build our stadium to 80,000, then who's to say we can't fill it in the same way you have?

You seem to forget ragboy that we've had ONE successful season while you've had 20.

You're clearly way too young to remember when things were very different at the swamp.

You sold out of your tickets for the semi-final replay for Arsenal, but the attendance for the Palace replay doesn't back up your claim that you sold out against them. IIRC there were less than 18,000 there that night. Palace brought about 3000-4000, many of them staying away in protest after that fan of theirs was killed in Walsall on the day of the original game. Villa Park held about 40,000 at the time so you would've been allocated the best part of 20,000 tickets each. Taking into account the official attendance less the amount of Palace fans, and you've got less than 15,000 United fans in the ground which would indicate you were well short of selling your allocation.

As for Monday night's game, it was officially a sell out in the home areas. Granted it only sold out a few hours before kick-off but it sold out nonetheless. You know it's a sell-out or as near as dammit at our place when the seats high up in the corners of the third tiers are filled because they're traditionally the last ones to go. While I couldn't see the third tier of the stand I'm in from my position, I could clearly see the third tier of the opposite stand was full. Indeed, the only empty seats I could see were a small number in the Swansea end, some in and around the director's box, and several pockets in the family stand. I'd assume that the latter was due to some people being on holiday.

People should stop getting so touchy on here. I thought there were a lot more empty seats than City put out. However, I do need to remember that if a Season Card holder doesn't attend, it still goes down as one attended on the stats. The Family Stand is a fucking joke, the amount of empty seats in there every game is shocking. I know, I know, it's school holidays, but I'm sure not all of them are away at the minute. It was the same last season, the Family Stand was an embarrassment at times. Lots of empty seats up in Level 3 as well. Anyway, I'm sure that once the season is under way, and we entertain like we did on Monday, that people will start to fill those seats. I also saw about 15 chinese (far east anyway) lads outside the chippy by Mary Ds on Mon night, and that also bodes well for the future - they looked like students to me, and the more the merrier.

The official attendance was 46,802 but there weren't 46,802 people in the stadium. As you've alluded to yourself, that figure is tickets sold rather than people who've physically turned up. Every club uses this method. Look at Arsenal last night - official attendance was just over 58,000 which is only a couple of thousand shy of capacity yet it was clear to see that there were far more than 2,000 empty seats in their ground.

I agree that some of our own get touchy about this but my touchiness is more in response to opposition fans claiming we haven't sold out when we have.
