If this “canteen” is so anti-establishment then why haven’t any of the MPs raised concerns? I haven’t seen a single thing about this from Labour, the Lib Dem’s or SNP so I can only assume that they are all using it....

Do the MP’s pay a levy toward the place which reduces the price of meals for members?

Your staff canteen is nothing like the one we had access to. The one we used (still operating) provided excellent food at decent prices.. this is really no different for me

I agree with one point, that MPs are grasping hypocrites who claim as much as they can against expenses but how the hell can you tar the Tories with one brush and not the others if they are all cut from the same cloth?

If an MP voted against feeding disadvantaged children over Christmas during a pandemic while tucking into his or her subsidised Christmas pud, then they can fuck off.

If an MP voted for feeding disadvantaged children over Christmas and extended some of the benefits they enjoy, then I don‘t have an issue.

I am also getting bored with people refusing to make distinctions in behaviour and claiming we can’t criticise one group without criticising the other. Several Tory MPs did vote against the Govt so fair play to them. Those that voted against extending meals over Christmas are ripe for a kicking.

I honestly don’t believe what I’ve seen today regarding these bars and restaurants. There are about 10 of these and all heavily subsidized for food and alcohol. Plus they get an extra £25 per day each to eat outside their constituency. All on the taxpayer

it’s an absolute disgrace

Give it 48 hours and even people on here will be referencing the Sunak deal in the argument against Burnham. Deliberate obfuscation. If you're not following this circus in real-time it's almost impossible to get the correct story after.

What Burnham did made it happen.

But Sunak couldn't be seen to do it because of Burnham.

For the Tories now it's all about holding on to the illusion of being in control.

I’ve worked in supermarkets and their canteens used the cheapest stuff off the shop floor to make meals in the canteen. I really don’t think MPs can cry that they need these subsidies to the tune of around 6m per year on the taxpayer. It’s fucking scandalous they rely on these state handouts yet tell low income families to not become dependent

I didn’t get meals like this in my workplace canteen. We got the whoopsie reduced sandwiches that were going out of date or smart price sausage casserole for 1.27

MPs are greedy, grasping hypocrites. They need to pay full price or buy a sandwich for the local Tesco express. Meal deal is £3

80k a year and can’t even buy thier own dinners at Parliament. Never worried about running out of other peoples money when it suits eh.

This Saint Marcus Rashford thing...
What I can’t understand is that people are openly attacking MP’s but are not looking at the wider issues of lack of responsibility and accountability of parents. Now, I know some people are working hard and do need help to feed their kids- fair enough. But are we just going to ignore the legions of people who’ve not worked a day in their lives, have the government pay for their housing and shopping already and now they want the state to feed their children on top of what they receive already. I know that’s not the kids fault and they shouldn’t be going hungry but in a lot of cases it’s just feckless parenting.

They get £25 food allowance daily also and their alcohol is subsidized in parliament bars.
Did your workplace provide cheap beer too and send the tab to the taxpayer.
I have a huge problem that MPs earn £74k a year yet still receive free meals and travel

and I’m not just saying tories. I’m saying every single MP. Labour, lib dem, Tory or independent. If they voted against feeding children during this pandemic then they should hang their fucking heads in shame
I did 22 years in the mob and you only have to see the bar prices in the mess to see why some of the senior ranks develop a drink problem...

If it was as black and white as that and anybody voted to refuse a hungry (in need) child a meal then I would agree with you

Not the kids fault and they shouldn’t be going hungry is pretty much all that matters in that post, mate.
