Greater Manchester Politics Thread

Mate I was just replying to your post that said end of the year, neither of us know what the payment details are. Im hoping by some fluke we have peaked and cases and deaths start going down.

Unfortunately I don’t think a vaccine is imminent and it wouldn’t surprise me if we are in restrictions for a good while. If you think about it would Burnham or Boris be arguing about 5 million over 6 months if it ended up only 4 weeks. That’s less than a million quid. They are both expecting tier 3 to be with us a while.

Also note how they keep saying tier 3 is the minimum and extra restrictions can be added locally. It doesn’t fill me with confidence tbh.

Its not even an argument that should be had. Close business and take folk out of work then they get paid, 100% of their wage until such a time they are allowed back. We can afford it and its the right thing to do. I just think Burnham has played his hand badly here and in a few weeks time the heat is going to be firmly on him because thats what big Government does....it finds an excuse and it points the finger.

No, they'd whine, bitch and point fingers about it, like has been done with every march this year (along with people on beaches, those morons who were morris dancing etc) but so far not one of those had lead to any increase in illness amongst those who were there.

Well that sounds like its backed up with science so who am I to argue?

Fucking hell! Just thought I’d have a read and you seem to be obsessed with slating a bloke who is trying to do the best for his people.

Scary shit, man.

@blueinsa is a sturdy defender of his liege and master, the bumbling tyrant of Uxbridge, Oaf Johnson. He hath turned his coat on the north and resides in exile under the gaze of the canny Fishwife.

Better speak to DWP then as my Mrs was on the phone to then saying they accidentally stopped her disability benefit due to sending a letter to a wrong address. Also throw in years of the Sun Mail and Channel 5 making out the welfare system is the benefit system.

I dont have to speak to any fucker.

We have a welfare system for those in time of need. If someone wants to say its benefits then they are wrong.

Fuck Boris and fuck the Tory party.

That is all.

Would be nice if City and United could step in and top up the £22m. Won’t happen, but would be nice.
Just need United to find a buyer for Phil Jones...

Im pointing out the 6th form politics of the last several years from the opposition has reared its head once again and once again, its all been for nothing.

*sigh*

I don't think its over at all. There is a ground swell of support for Burnham as people realise it could be there town next to suffer at the hands of these heartless cunts.

I actually think it has the potential to get much worse because Burnham ignited a passion in people today and there will be Tories across the north thinking there days are numbered as MPs unless that fucking clown sorts it out, but he is so fucking arrogant he won't and Thursday night at lockdown time could well see some pretty nasty reaction from people who are fed up to the back fucking teeth of being treated like third class citizens by an out of touch corrupt government that promised to level up and instead is fucking us up. The narcissistic lying cunts days are numbered.
As an aside.

They are doing the same to Nottingham City Council. They want to tier 3 but aren’t offering the same cash as Jenrick got next door in Newark. Nottingham City is run by Labour. Notts County council is run by tories who are expected to stay level 2. Nottingham City also has 3 Labour MPs. Notts County 6 Tory.

Back on topic.

Burnham is Manchester’s version of Cuomo standing up to Trump. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea politically but his campaign has united Manchester as one and I hope he continues shaming the cunts down south.

Im questioning his political approach.

I agree all furloughed should get all their pay and that businesses asked to shut should be protected fully from closure.

That doesnt stop me from thinking Burnham should have entered tier 3 at the very start, did so willingly saying he was protecting the health of people and the NHS but at the same time making it clear he would fight for the financial package needed.

He was always getting more money as per Merseyside and Lancashire, always. He has now given the Government the perfect get out excuse when the shit really hits the fan in the coming weeks.
If you agree that somebody should be fighting against a killer of a pay structure then why not debate the issues. You just seem to be ranting when the majority are arguing the same thing.

We all know that hospitality isn’t the big issue, it was always going to be kids going back to school and people returning to work. The risk for Burnham were very low, the evidence was always there.

As for your rants, people will listen if you let them. Currently you are just drowning them out.

Benefits?

We have a welfare state cocker. Anyone who says its benefits is a twat and usually a shit stirring one at that.
Well said. Eh? Oh...
Tesco gave workers a 10.45% pay rise last year with the first part of it in September putting them on £9 p/hr rising to £9.30 p/hr this year.

That is not minimum wage and any full time worker on that wage wont be qualifying for benefits i can tell you that.

Part time staff have a choice in life but they cant expect to earn wages high enough to take them out of benefits if they only want to work part time its that simple.

Im not ranting for a start, just offering up my opinion. I agree with Burnham re the money needed but disagree in the way he has sought to get it. I dont agree the risk for Burnham was low at all and neither do SAGE or the medical professionals dealing with it in Greater Manchester.

Bless you have been working on that for quite a while.

Shall we have a game of finding each others posts for the rest of the night?

No doubt if i did the thread fairy would remove them sharpish anyways ;-)

Manchester is not the only city under siege, so is King’s Landing.

‘Grant Shapps has threatened to seize control of Transport for London unless Sadiq Khan accepts package of measures inc higher council tax, pension reforms, larger congestion charge zone and higher fares in return for rescue funding‘ @FT

Which they will then try to pin on Khan so he gets voted out and replaced by that fucking half-wit Shaun Bailey!
