Eleanor? British?
I might have my timeline wrong but I think it's very technically correct to claim her as British due to the Duchy of Bordeaux being under effectively English control at the time? That whole period seems to blend together.

Aquitaine was a vassal state at around the time she was born. Nominally to France. She was Queen of France before she became Queen of England. Plus most of her life is conjecture as there really isn't much written about her. A long stretch to call her British. Especially as the British were of Norman descent at this time.I might have my timeline wrong but I think it's very technically correct to claim her as British due to the Duchy of Bordeaux being under effectively English control at the time? Strange!! Not one like for this post. Satan must have Internet issues.Margaret Thatcher
Yes, yes, yes...English under the rule of Normans. Still stands that Eleanor was born in a vassal state of France. So can't have been English. And the header of the OP says British...I just followed suit.No they weren't, the ruling classes were of Norman descent and the ordinary rank and file and huge majority were English not even British. There are many cases of people becoming British either through marriage or nationalisation.
Everyone comes from somewhere and we can't discount the children of conquest from being English/British just because they had links to another country.
Hell, even Bonnie Prince Charlie was Italian.
