Greatest Comebacks...

I think I went to this one??!!!

As I was living close by at the time :0)

Memory of the away wins, should be better, due to their rarity back in the day for the games,I could get too!!??

The other thing I remember about the Manor Ground and the same at Fratton Park.

Was the post match exit and crush as the whole away end , used to be cleared by the police and stewards, and appeared to be filtered out of one exit and usually got held back for 20 minutes!!!

So you ended up packed like sardines under the terrace, in an alley at the back of some houses, desperate for a piss and slowly being crushed!!

Good Times :0)
I remember it was supposed to be a ticket only game. Having given up a Saturday morning overtime, drove to Maine Road and queued for a ticket. When we got to the ground there was a turnstile, pay on the gate!

Oxford United 2 - 4 Manchester City.
2 - 0 down at half time utter garbage. Came out for the second half and absolutely destroyed them.
Strange that I have no memory of that - despite going. And, literally last weekend on the way down to the West Ham game I was speaking to a guy who was an Oxford fan travelling down to Preston on the same train (they were away), and he was reminiscing over that same game and telling me the same story. What are the odds??? (and for info he also asked why we were struggling - didn't realise what's happened - why would he?, but.... proving what we all knew he said he had "no qualms when City win" and as long as the Scousers or United don't win he is happy.. :-) )

Ha ha, that happens to me a lot. I was recently looking through my old away ticket stubs and came across one for Southampton away. I genuinely cannot remember going. I remember my trips to Portsmouth and Bournemouth away but dammed if I can remember Southampton.

We scored late on, flitcroft to make it 2-1, then the equalised last minute.
When flitcroft scored loads on the pitch throwing snow balls, when they scored they done the same.
£18 a ticket if I remember, expensive back then.
Coppers stood in front of us but the first few rows were below pitch level, we were singing "18 quid and we see fuck all, city is are name"
Great away game.
Drew United in next round so going into the replay we were desperate to win.

Two that spring to mind from the 90s were trailing Sheffield Wednesday 2 0 at half time and coming back to win 3 2 at Maine Rd, with the new Kippax under construction. Losing 2 0 to Newcastle at half time the coming back to win 3 2 again the new Kippax finished as I was sat in it. Sorry I can't date or give the scorers FOCs memory I'm afraid, anyone give more details.
I was actually there that day remember Wednesday fans giving Rosler shit only for him to get the winner

Spurs 3 City 4

February 4th 2004

One of the greatest FA Cup comebacks of modern times.

This fixture has such a special meaning to me as my lad Harvey-James, 9 months old at the time was fighting for his life at a nearby London hospital as he battled meningococcal septicaemia, a deadly form of meningitis, I'd barley left his side for almost two weeks and had a ticket for the game, some friends had offered to pick me up from the hospital and drop me back afterwards but I couldn't leave his side so decided not to go.

I watched as the scores flicked up on my mobile(Nokia6410) phone and remember thinking to myself as the Spurs goals went in “Thanks City, you couldn't even give me a result to lift my mood". So what followed was simply fantastic which gave me a massive boost at the time.

Harvey, then went on to stage his very own remarkable comeback as he made an almost full recovery, Despite amputations to his hands and feet he's the bubbly character you’ll see by my side on most match days and is now 21.

It really felt like at the time that result was sent from above to cheer us up...Typical City !!!

One from the FOC archives, League Cup tie at home to Wolves in 71/72, 3-1 down with 12 mins left, Colin Bell flicked a switch and scored two and made another as we won 4-3. Waste of effort really as we went and lost to third tier Bolton by 3-0 in the next round.
Yes the wolves game was a great finish , Bolton not so much

I was at both
