Greatest guitar riff ever?

Is a riff a repeated chord?
If it is (either a single chord or a series of chords), and that is what I understand a riff to be, then from more recent-ish times;

Probably not the most difficult riff to master technically, but very effective in that it reels you in to the song from the opening second.

Kashmir - Led Zep
Alive - Pearl Jam
Walk This Way - Aerosmith
She Hates Me - Puddle of Mudd
Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
Killer Queen - Queen
Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
Cocaine - Eric Clapton
Lazy - Deep Purple
Cemetery Gates - Pantera
You Really Got Me - Kinks
Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry
I Still Love You - Kiss
God Gave Rock And Roll To You - Kiss
No One Knows - Queens of the Stone Age
Morning Glory - Oasis

Each one of them is equally awesome for entirely different reasons.

They're all classics!

I'm not a fan of most of them. Led Zep, Queen, Oasis, Pearl Jam, and Hendrix I like, I was just trying to the greatest riffs I could think of.

The Last Time.
I Cant Get No Satisfaction.
Honky Tonk Woman.
Brown Sugar.
Jumpin Jack Flash.
Start Me Up.
All by the Rolling Stones.

This is the full top 20 all good. Nice to see Zepp on there 3 times. I think GnR were top last time.

1. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
2. Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

4. Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water
5. Derek and the Dominos - Layla
6. AC/DC - Back In Black
7. Metallica - Enter Sandman

it was the puddle of mud and kiss that got to me really
plus some of those are more lead guitar than super dooper chord slashing

Glad Beat It is there.

Underrated Eddie Van Halen piece of work.
