Shearer for me. He was the perfect all round striker. Not as technically gifted as Bergkamp but delivered what was required consistently. A leader, a winner and a marvel. Most of all he tops my list because he turned United down when imo he would have elevated them to levels where they'd have done better in Europe.
I also think Zola is worth a mention as he was my second choice. IMO he changed the mentality of English towards foreign players and we became more appreciative of technique and flair as consequence.
Other names I can think of Ronaldo, Bergkamp, Henry, Cole, Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Vieira, Giggs and Ginola.
Not the best by any means but Yakubu and Asprilla were very good players who I loved watching too.
