I can't understand how Upson gets picked for the squad at all, he's a very average Prem defender, nothing more.

the world cup can be won normally by one of 8 teams..the usual suspects, italy,spain,germany, brazil argentina, england france and maybe 1 form team.
We get close (quarter final) often..too often!
My thinking is that during the comp you need the rub of the green, good refereeing decisions going your way, maybe an injury to an important opposition player! this is what wins you the world cup!
Look at Italy when they won, they weren't the best team consistently and that is the case for other winners! It's who shines at the tournament and who gets the rub of the green! I've seen and betted on teams like spain that qualified without loss get knocked out in the quarters!
The quarters and semis are a proper lottery! believe me! It's all luck at that stage!

Been saying this about Green all season. Green got his chance because he had a consistant season last season, that was all nothing spectacular. This season however, he's made possibly more mistakes than any of the other English keepers and isn't capable of pulling off amazing saves like the others are.
Imo top 3 English keepers at the minute would be (in order) Hart, Robinson, James.
