Growing Chillies

I am filling the spare room in my grow tent with strawberry's and chillies.
Strawbs i have sorted but i know sod all about chillies.

What is a nice aromatic strain and not so hot to grow ?

The temperature in the tent is EXACTLY 76f lights on/day and 68 at night.
Do they need 18/6 light cycle then 12/12 like err other "fruits" or can i bang them straight to 12/12 ?
I will be growing in plagron batmix (the best soil you can get) so nutrients i am ok with.

Any advice would be most welcome, including where to buy them, thanks :)

Chillies need quite a bit of light mate. Heat wise 24c-28c is ideal. your soil should be ok, but test it with litmus to see. (slightly acidic is better)

Pepper wise Bonnets are easy to grow and quite productive as are Paper lanterns. Jalapenos are also piss easy to grow. A nice versatile pepper with a bit of heat would be a cajun belle. If you want something for curries then the Jwala pepper is Ideal.

These guys are in the UK. See what they've got to offer.

Whats the hottest chilli you've ever had paphos? Do any make you cry and want to cut out youre tounge or have you built up a tolerance?
The hottset ones i can find in my supermarket are scotch bonnets and they do nothing for me, looking for something a bit nuts

Top info paphos :)

Ok so i'll stick em in the vegging tent (18/6). Just to be sure... I don't have to drop the light cycle at all to induce flowering/fruit production. ?

I think i will take your suggestions, these fuckers have as much variety and cool names as the other seeds i like growing hehe.
I will have a good browse on the site though cheers :)

I've grown and done the Beast that is......The Moruga red. There's a pic early in the thread. I've nicknamed it the Negredo chilli as it a fucking BEAST and yes, I cried like a little girl as my mouth went to DEFCON 1.

I was testing regularly at that time so my tolerance was pretty good unlike today where I was beaten by a Yellow Bhut. A little bit of hot stuff every day gives you a good tolerance, hence my sauces that I've made and bought.

Guy, the more light the chilli has, the more energy it will have to reproduce (flower) Keep the soil damp and feed once a week. You can also encourage further flowering by spraying the leaves and stems with warm water. Chilli focus is a good product to feed and you can get it online.

Nice info paphos, cheers.

Moruga red eh ?, to close to the word "morgue" for my likings :p

Have you any video of you doing heat challenges paphos, i could do with a giggle :D
If not, make one for us :)

Not my Idea of fun having everyone on bluemoon watching me cry, sniffle and drool all at the same time. But might do it one day (when I'm pissed.)

I'll probably say balls to it one day and just do it!

I found the Arji Limons easyish to grow. Very quick at fruiting too.

Cant really go wrong with plenty of light and just keeping the soil moist

Another reccomendation for chili focus food. Well worth the extra bit of money.

Usually I buy my seeds from the south devon chili farm.

Love chillis. Still need to make a Naga Phall for work sometime.

I got some chilli oil for my birthday, 4 different strengths.. Mild, medium, hot and extreme. Had the extreme last night in a chilli I made - fantastic flavour. Couldn't tell you the brand as its unbranded, but I've been looking online and I'm stocking up!

Anyone help with a good one?
