Well let's consult the Office of National Statistics then:

"The UK population at mid-year 2021 was estimated to be 67.0 million, an increase of 3.7 million (5.9%) on the population in mid-2011."

"In 2021, there were 26.4 million dwellings in England and Wales, which has increased by 8.4% since 2011 (24.4 million dwellings)."

"Of the English regions, London had the highest percentage of unoccupied dwellings in 2021 at 8.0% (297,095), while the West Midlands had the lowest percentage at 4.8% (122,630). The largest increase in unoccupied dwellings was in London, rising by 178,644 between 2011 and 2021, from 3.5% to 8.0% of dwellings."

So the number of houses in the UK has increased faster than the population in the 10 years from 2011 to 2021. And the number of unoccupied dwellings in London has increased from 3.5% to 8% despite more new homes being built in London (as a percentage) than any other region.

Not sure how citing an on Oxford academic i.e. an expert infers that I'm an expert. Someone who has appeared in long features on channel 4 news, check it out if you are actually interested.

No one has disputed immigration has an impact, and the OFS didn't provide an analysis just stats, you did.

2 kids - 28 & 25. Neither at home now but we're sudsidising them both while they work their way up the corporate ladder and can support themselves. Younger of the 2 has her own place and is paying her mortgage off over 18 yrs (linked to my age as guarantor). TBH, I'd be up for murder if either of them moved back home. Love them both to bits but they are fucking annoying when under the same roof as us.

Moved abroad on my own at 17, initially for a summer season in Tenerife. Over next 3 years I did stints in Marbella, Ibiza and Majorca before heading back to Tenerife for the next 12 years.
Since then I’ve spent time in England/Ireland and Scotland but that was just whilst waiting for my return to mainland Spain where I am for the foreseeable until I call it a day and head to Mexico. Don’t think my ma and pa missed having me at their gaff! Haha!
You tend to grow up pretty fucking quickly when left to your own devices in a foreign country as a teenager.

Left home aged 18 then had to return for about 3 months after my marriage failed. With a toddler.
Grandparents by then had retired and downsized, to a tiny new build with one bedroom.
It was absolute hell, not just for me but them too lol. Was a very stressful time for us all though.

I left home after uni. Been on my own ever since. I'm sure my parents would have let me move back in for a time if I'd asked. My sister did for two years before she moved out.

My cousin lived with his parents all his life. My mum was fairly certain he was waiting for them to die and the house would belong to him was his thinking. The joke was on him. He killed himself. Unfortunately, that broke my aunt and uncle's hearts. I'm certain it caused them to pass away earlier than they would have otherwise.
