Guitar players, help please!

Could also try light gauge strings like a gauge 10, then shouldn't have to put much pressure on strings when playing the chord.

I'm more of an acoustic player nowadays and bars on acoustic took a bit of going.
I meant to mention this in my last post. Even gauge 10's can be a bit heavy for a beginner, it's worth the loss in tone to try 9's to make it a bit easier.
This could solve the prob op, worth a try.

Give up. You're not good enough and you never will be

Thank you for those pearls of wisdom.

I shall give up immediately.

Appreciate the ideas from everyone else that isn't a ****, will try them out later :)

Barre on the 1st fret is difficult and relies mostly on strength which you will get over time.

As others have suggested, play further down the neck or open on 1st fret (index finger on b).

You will have moments i expect, i nearly gave up a load of times very early on but glad i never.

SDS FACT!!!!

First guitar i ever bought was a Bass but sent it back a few days later as i couldn't get me head round it I then bought a fender. The rest is history.

If your fingertips start to hurt a bit after too much practice I got a tip of a lad who plays in a band and what he would do after the first couple gigs is put a slight dab of superglue on the hard bit of his fingers... helped him through.... just saying like...

I find this is a decent site for tunes...

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.songsterr.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.songsterr.com/</a>

... stick at it and good luck by the way.

Hold the F in a power chord, resting your barred finger should then come naturally.
