I did a test before a hospital admission in June and had the results in about 2 hours.

There would have been onsite testing facilities in your case. The Premier League clubs have to send their tests by courier to a private facility in London. During project restart, the guidance was that tests should be confirmed within 48 hours of sample being taken.

Sorry, this isn't true. It's far quicker than that. And yes, he won't have been in contact with any other players since before testing. That's sort of the point...

You're wrong. Some tests may come back quicker, but they are usually between 24-48 hours. Which means that he could have taken the test on Saturday. If that's the case, anyone he has had contact with since he swabbed for the previous test could carry the virus. Which will be every player in the squad as they are currently contact training and the previous test would have been Tuesday.

What is the testing procedure?
The test consists of two parts. The first involves taking a swab of the nose and the back of the throat, which is done in less than a minute. These are conducted at drive-through stations. The samples are sealed and couriered to The Doctors Laboratory, a private facility in London. The analysis done there represents step two and is fed back to the Premier League clubs. Results can be delivered within 48 hours.
No specific details as to clubs or individuals that test positive will be provided by the league due to legal and operational requirements.
