He looks a fantastic talent,different to what we have and still only 22.

Considering the financial restraints and our need to prioritise other areas of the squad such as the wings and central defence,then yes,he could make an excellent and astute addition/replacement in central midfield.

Never really looked for him before but he stood out as a very good player recently (especially against us) when he came into play so decided to pay closer attention when Swansea were up against Spurs, noticed he seemed quite sluggish, far more than I expected, maybe it was a one-off so certainly not writing him off yet, was surprised he was in his early 20's, I'll reserve judgement for now mate.

Gylfi Sigurdsson WILL join Liverpool, but not before he has offered Swansea the courtesy of meeting their new manager.

The Iceland international, who made such an impact on loan at the Liberty Stadium last season, has made clear his desire to go to Anfield following the appointment of Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers as the new boss.

The attacking midfielder had all but agreed a permanent £6.8million move from Hoffenheim to Swansea at the end of the season, but didn’t sign the deal as it became clear Rodgers was being courted by the Merseyside club.

Sigurdsson confirmed last week that he was having second thoughts about a move to Wales from the German club.

Now he is set to link up again with Rodgers, becoming his first Liverpool signing for a fee similar to the one that would have taken him to Swansea.


But he wants to show respect to to the Swans by meeting their new manager first, to explain his situation.

Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has been busy looking for Rodgers' replacement and is expected to unveil a new manager within the next week, with former Denmark star Michael Laudrup the overwhelming favourite.

Rodgers, meanwhile, has been busy drawing up a list of transfer targets since arriving at Anfield.

Midfielder Momo Diame, a free agent now his Wigan contract has expired, and Uruguay midfielder Gaston Ramirez of Bologna have both been the subject of inquiries.

German newspaper Bild has pulled off a transfer scoop late on Monday night with the claim that Tottenham have signed Gylfi Sigurdsson for 10 million euros.

Spurs’ late move for Sigurdsson was also predicted in the Sunday Mirror and the north London side appear to have beaten off competition from Swansea and Liverpool for his signature.

After a hugely impressive second half of the 2011/2012 season at Swansea, Sigurdsson was expected to sign permanently for the Welsh club until Brendan Rodgers left for Liverpool.

Once Rodgers was installed at Anfield, the transfer gossips then claimed the Icelandic midfielder would be heading to Merseyside.

Bild add that Swansea had agreed a nine million euro fee with Hoffenheim for Sigurdsson’s signing but once Rodgers moved on the midfielder was less keen on the move.

This latest Spurs signing will likely fuel further the rumours that Luka Modric will depart White Hart Lane this summer with Real Madrid currently firm favourites to bag the Croatian.
