When I was a child, if I’d have asked for something with MAN UNITED on it, my Mother would have sent me to Borstal. What if was a childs first game ?
Many pubs in Town don’t let people in with colours on. So, many people at the game don’t wear colours for that reason.
If someone is willing to pay to have the words MAN UNITED in red+black or LIVERPOOL in red+white draped around their necks at a City game when we are playing against those teams who we fucking despise, shows that they aren’t true City fans and are taking the place in the ground of people who wouldn’t be caught dead in such filth.
Likewise, got a Barcelona-City one for my son the first time we played them competitively… never thought we’d ever get to play them again! Can I go against the grain here?
I bought one for my daughters first champions league game. She was 8. It's in her memory box.
So I would say that's a fair use?
While you’re alright at Midday and might get away with it at teatime before the bouncers start their shift, many pubs and clubs past a certain time on a Saturday evening wouldn’t let you in with colours on, from the Salmon of Knowledge to the Freemount to Night&Day to see some live music and I wouldn’t go to a gig with colours on whether it be at Albert Hall, Aviva, Apollo, New Century Hall or the Academy etc.Which Pubs ?
I wear a scarf and badge and have never been denied access to a Pub in Manchester.
Agreed I look debonair and distinguished.
It's not about being offended. It's about the overall atmosphere being diluted into something more nicey nicey, less riff raff, less hard-core supporters, more prawn sandwiches.Personally, i wouldnt buy one or wear one and find them a bit irksome. But i dont think the people buying and wearing them are there to provoke people or support the opposition and therefore i find it weird that fans would willingly lobby the club to police people like that.
Clubs arent banning them over safety concerns. Theyre banning them cos they dont make any moey from them.
If people are seriously citing safety concerns then i think there's much bigger issue in that there are people attending games who cant be trusted to not turn aggressive at the sight of A SCARF.
They probably get dumped over a fence in a plastic bag. They'll all go to landfill eventually.

It’s literally why the Casual scene exists.
A bit of harmless fun and valuable revenue for the street vendors, certainly not worthy of the levels of invective displayed in this thread.
The most appropriate response should be a wry smile for the wearer, and a nod to those that know better.
Its a half n half scarf, overeaction don't you think ?When I was a child, if I’d have asked for something with MAN UNITED on it, my Mother would have sent me to Borstal.

buy a city scarf theyll treasure for lifeWhat if was a childs first game ?
soriano thinks soDoes the club earn any money from these scarves? Seems to be just the dodgy sellers on the streets around the ground? in that case we should ban them like West Ham have.
Thank you. That's very sweet but you're wrong.
