Half & Half Scarves Poll

A couple of questions that I recommend my children ask before passing comment...who is it hurting? and/or what's it got to do with you?

I'm not sure that I agree with the suggestion that the security services become confused by the sight of a nine-year old wearing a half and half scarf and immediately leaping to the conclusion that trouble is brewing.

And, let's be honest, whatever the age of the wearer, a half and half scarf is hardly an integral part of the desperado hooligans winter wardrobe, they are mainly worn by children having fun and tourists looking for a cheap souvenir to take home.

Not hurting anyone, don't think I suggested otherwise.

I suppose what it's got to do with me is a massive dislike of growing tourists at games wearing opposition colours who don't support the team or understand what it means to follow a football club. I think most fans would take the same side, as the poll here suggests. Very happy to see a club like West Ham take a stand against something massively disliked and ridiculed by the football community. Buy them a City scarf instead that they will, as noted above, treasure for life :)

A while ago, I was stopped by a chap wearing a United shirt asking me directions to Sainsbury's, it's Surrey so United shirts did not, at the time, have a rarity value.

I smiled and told him the way. Not the quickest way, but the long way that I knew for a fact was really muddy and difficult to navigate.

I mention this only to say that I really enjoy the pettiness involved in being a football supporter. I appreciate why you might be irked by the sight of a half and half scarf, I just don't think it's worthy of the ire.

Live and let live, but never miss an opportunity to be a bastard to a red, we have to draw the line somewhere.

I'd never buy one for a domestic opposition but I'm quite happy with mine and my sons' collection from European ties that brightens up our darts room at home.

I've got enough to do the ceiling now as well.

And it’s not getting worked up at the smallest things when it’s clearly obvious that there are Rag and Scouse cunts (and fans of all teams we play) in our home stands wanting the Rags and Lpool (or whoever we’re playing) to win, taking pictures holding up the red half of their scarf up with the away stand in the background, while proper Blues are sat at home priced out.

That you’d rather call Blues and fellow Bluemoon posters sad cunts and not these sad cunts who dilute our stands with their filthy red shit round their necks, says a lot about you.

It's not about being offended. It's about the overall atmosphere being diluted into something more nicey nicey, less riff raff, less hard-core supporters, more prawn sandwiches.

I think it's a totem for everything that's wrong with modern audiences. Which means it's probably the future. Shame.

Those people aren't going to disappear if we ban half and half scarves. They'll just stop wearing them.

In fact it would be ironic for the club to ban half and half scarves on that basis given we all know full well the club would rather those people be there than us.
