I think the result stood in that game - otherwise you'd have managers losing a game just having lots of injuries until they've got fewer than 7 players on the pitch, which means the game must be abandoned.

There was a lot of accusations of it being done on purpose at the time, hence Warnocks offer probably diffused the situation before it was looked into by the authorities.

I seem to recall it after 68mins the result stood, although I haven't got a clue where I heard that

It used to be 80, but as you can see there is no such rule now.
