Happy 77th Birthday to legendary blues centre half Big Dave Watson.

Following his City debut in an Anglo-Scottish Cup tie on 2nd August 1975 the brilliant England International would appear 188 times for City scoring 6 goals between 1975 & 1979.

Legend! I remember as a little kid seeing him in Melrose Park with his son, he was a massive & had a great tan. Took a very long time to replace, decades.

So close to winning the title in 1977 with Dave Watson solid as a rock.

If Sheikh Mansour hadn’t come along, I’d be long gone before there was another centre half that would have replaced Dave in our all time best 11, an absolute colossus, hard as nails (see below) although it always made me laugh that his voice just didn’t match his grufty look :-D

Often forgotten when we talk of our greats - we've had few - if any - better centre halves than Watson. He was magnificent at Sunderland and then at City. Happy birthday big Dave.

Happy Birthday to Big Dave, a top defender.

6 goals? Obviously there's the Ipswich header and I do remember late equalisers at Norwich (League Cup) and at White Hart Lane (League match), struggling for the other three though.
