Great player, built like a tank, rocket shot and hard to knock off the ball. Tough nut too, see his fight with Norman Hunter when he was at Derby.
 
I'm of an age that I wasn't around when Big Mal and Franny where with the club the first time, so needless to say they both aren't felt of fondly by myself. The fact you can even make a case he was as bad as Swales is really eye-opening and yes.... Mr Ball burned a fair chunk of his goodwill is a really good way to put it!
