Northenden where I was brought up was also in Cheshire until, I think, the 1930s. The Mersey was the original border.Having been booted out of Cheshire, the sunlit uplands of Wythenshawe spent 43 years as part of (the much less effete) Lancashire, including it's most formative years so Happy Lancashire day one and all. :-)
