Happy new year from China

Every country in the world is in debt.
At least in China most people are benefitting from their governments' policies.
No homelessness
No drugs
Negligible crime
Superb infrastructure
Technological advancements (esp in AI)
Clean streets
Building of trade links with other nations
I could continue......

Most economists are forecasting a significant slow down in the Chinese economy brought on by the weight of debt. The Chinese gov are reducing their growth forecasts by a large factor. The most pessimistic forecasts are for a generation of stagnation similar to that experienced by Japan.
I would certainly consider that a major issue. Just ask all those who have paid for apartments that will never be built. The Belt and Road policy is in serious trouble as many of the client nations are unable to meet their payments.
You firmly believe in these predictions about the impending collapse of the Chinese economy? In reality, China can continue to progress even with such apocalyptic forecasts. Do you believe this?

In my view, these apocalyptic predictions are merely pressure tactics used by certain interest groups to push the country toward adopting loose monetary policies. Yet, the remarkable thing is that the Chinese government possesses the distinct capability to implement policies that genuinely benefit the nation's substantive development, rather than sleepwalking—as some "free world" countries have—onto a path of rapid inflation.

The principal issue for the Chinese economy in the long run is the birth rate.

Who said anything about a collapse?

After reading many commentaries about Venezuela, a number of people mentioned China and Taiwan. Of course, some other regions were also brought up, those referred to by the West as "contested." Isn’t it strange? People's Republic of China, celebrating 75 years since its founding, as the world’s largest industrial producer and possessing such a formidable military, still finds its territorial integrity questioned by the world. I don’t think this is normal. If such a powerful nation—arguably stronger than a hundred Venezuelas combined—must endure the pressure of territorial division, what about other countries? No other nation is safe; you either submit to the United States or face being torn apart.
