I met him quite a few times in the car park at Maine Road pre-match and he was always very friendly with lots of time for us.
He always had his wife and twin daughters with him, but nothing was ever too much trouble and he spent time signing autographs and chatting before wandering into Maine Road with the family.
I also went to a Macclesfield branch of the Supporters' club meeting in autumn 1999, where Shaun was guest speaker (Paul Dickov was also supposed to attend, but one of his children was ill, so The Goat came on his own) and remember him saying that Weaver saved Gillingham's last penalty because he (Weaver) knew that he (Goater) was next up for City.
An absolute star, whose place in our hearts was no doubt sealed by him being fed by gargoyle gary in the last Maine Road derby.
However, even without the event of 9/11/02, there is no doubt Shaun Goater would have been a City legend.
