Happy York (A) day

I was there. Was in the pub for around 2 hours before the bouncers clocked me and my mate were city fans and chucked us out.
I was behind the goal trying to get "little donkey" going but with "little goater".
I have been a few more times since watching curzon ashton.

I told my mate about the veneration that York away has in these pages and he replied "Well you should be glad we were there!" Feck, well it had been a long boozy day. And at Wrexham next away(?) I was so down at h/t I just left and went back to the pub, missing our winner, obvs.

I was definitely there although in all honesty my lowest point was half time at Lincoln the previous month

27 years ago, but as I just said to a rag, try going 27 years the other way and it's 1971 with City reaching a ECWC Semi Final and United not even in Europe

December 19th 1998 saw a fairly obscure game take place at Bootham Crescent. I feel that very few people know about this game and it's not really got the recognition it deserves.
The darkest hour is just before dawn ! So it proved to be! The Yorkies still talk about that!

Nice having that lower league second team, i was at York away last season with Oldham.

I can’t lie; I'm one of the VERY few (apparently) who wasn't there. To my eternal shame.
Neither was I, but I was at the next game when the recovery started. Wrexham (a) on Boxing Day. I remember it being freezing cold and windy.

I was there with a car full of mates from Chesterfield.
No piss up as I was driving although my mates drank my share and more.
Highlight of the day was when I tricked my 30 year old mate into believing Moonchester had waved at him personally, and the pillock waved back at our esteemed mascot until he realised everyone was laughing at him!
Only our dark sense of humour kept us going, but I recall fighting back from 0-2 down v Stoke at Maine Road next home game, to eventually win 3-2 and began to string together a great 2nd half of the season. Great but bitter sweet memories I wouldn't change.

Not on that day alas, but been to Bootham Crescent with Fleetwood. Smashing little ground close to the beautiful City centre and loads of great pubs. Too many great old grounds gone replaced by soulless bowls in beer deserts. As well as Maine Rd, the Vic at Stoke, Burnden Park and many more. Its progress I suppose but a little of a clubs soul dies when they leave their traditional home.

I was there, a cold wet day on an open terrace and the last goal of Craig Russell's City career beating our one time loanee keeper Bobby Mimms. Plenty of pre and post match beer, a great place for pubs.
