Hard To Be Here

It’s generally always been this way tbh, although it is seemingly getting worse. It’s certainly not specific to Bluemoon though. It’s largely the same for all clubs, and on all platforms. It’s the nature of the beast. People online tend to go that bit further to try and make their voices stand out more. There’s less room for pragmatism these days. Why simply say a player was poor today, when you can say he’s an absolute disgrace who should never pull on the shirt again? It’s tedious, I know, but some people crave attention.

It’s just becoming more noticeable now on here as we’re on a relative decline at the moment, after years of unprecedented success. Some of the over-reactions irk me too, but I’ve come to realise that people generally vent after a defeat and if I don’t want to see it then to give social media a swerve for 24 hours until things calm down again.
But, Ric. This has always been the case, even before social media came around. Humans are following human nature. Its what we all do, to a greater or lesser extent, about something we are passionate about.

I have a big issue with the vitriol aimed at other posters who show this emotion, from other nembers who elevate themselves above mere fans, to Superfan status, and find it acceptable to abuse other members for voicing a (sometimes) under-thunk and over emotional opinion, or even just a differing opinion.

As I have mentioned previously. Posters are turning on other posters in a very aggressive manner, dressing it up as them defending the club/players/manager/tea lady, etc... the reality is they are working out their frustrations on other members, rather than the club. This is not OK.

The abuse that goes unchecked by the mods is becoming a concern. People say dickish things in the heat of the moment on the match day threads- it's what people do in stressful situations. They then say things on the post match threads for the same reasons. The problem is not these people expressing their human nature, it is the others who can't just let it run its course without diving in on them.

The cherry on this shit cake is for the ones aggressively piling-on to other posters, to then lament the abuse being slung around the site by "plastics who've never been there when we were shit" as if that qualifies a higher fan level status.
What is getting worse, Ric, is the level of acceptance of abusive and uncalled for aggressive language on this site from one poster to another, and that is something you need to tackle (but, cleanly. No knee-high lunges ;) )

The last paragraph is really the premise of my post. Increasingly, following a defeat, I just shut everything down. I don't really wish to do that here but also don't want to feel the need to respond to every nonsense. It isn't different opinions that are a problem. It isn't comments like being outworked, being beaten tactically, or a player failing to take chances - there is no problem with that. Someone posting that players are fat and cannot run, that Trafford should be back in Burnley reserves, that Pep will remove Cherki's flair, or that others are the least athletic in the league. They are the extreme, and in my view mindless posts that there is a problem with. I console myself that those posters are just posting extremes for attention.

The defence of people wanting to show superfan status and not wanting any criticism of anyone at the club is deflection, IMO. We all know that mistakes have been made - who hasn't made some in 12 years of their own lives - but just be a bit constructive and thoughtful.

Seeing the written word is worse than the emotional conversation
Probably where the old adage the pen is mightier than the sword derives from
I went straight to Town as planned Marble Arch
Hare Turks etc with mates got pissed as a fart talked how shit we are to death by 8ish no football conversation left and never even crossed my mind to come on BM
However if I’d got the excellent match bus service back to Vagas and gone straight home having watched that atrocious performance I would have been here all last night and no doubt chipping in too as a means of coping
BM is the modern day to quote another adage
“Went home and kicked the cat” equivalent
It’s not the contributions that piss me off on BM it’s the self entitled @police” on BM who think they have a right to assess and judge and then respond
It you agree like it if you don’t then big deal type in your view on the subject itself

Negativity is in fashion, plus success brings mard arse ways.

whatever happenend to the win or lose on the booze attitude.
That's a normal fan. I wouldn't say Bluemoon is redolent of matchday Blues. When I had a season ticket I never heard views like I see on here. I'd do a pint beforehand in the boozer just at the back of the South Stand and although you'd hear some griping it wasn't on Bluemoon levels. Even in the ground (111) I'd hear some moans but nothing out of the ordinary. People tend to be more virulent on a keyboard.

Why are football fans constantly surprised when other football fans are mad that their team plays bad? I find that a bigger mystery.
The biggest mystery there is you thinking the OP was surprised at all.
He never indicated any such thing.

For what it is worth, I see a lot of 2025 join-ups that sound like they would fit in on X just fine.

The match day thread, which was always bad, is now becoming uninhabitable and that includes when we are winning.

oh. I, never take this place seriously, at least 50% of the posts on here are moronic and ridiculous.

Never hardly heard any of the takes written here post match in the walk into town or pub after win, lose or draw.

Rico Lewis was getting a lot of stick yesterday.

Well said. There's a few who love the feeling of being self righteous and are constantly claiming some type of morality award.

Some moron was booing at half time yesterday where I was
A guy in the toilets in my block was shouting at half-time that Guardiola is “an arrogant Spanish ****” for selecting Trafford. I guess moronic takes aren’t just restricted to online spaces.

If you wasn't alarmed by yesterday's performance then i think you are in denial, it was absolutely woeful, to spend that amount of money and offer so little was frankly frightening. I have been a staunch Pep fan but i am having serious doubts, it was dreadful

We have been blessed with continued success and excellent investment. Now we are seeing a lot of questionable decisions on and off the pitch and it's not what we are used to. For some, they don't remember the dark days and they think it's football manager. For others, there's a more considered and measured take. But the hissy fits from a lot of posters on here will drown all of that out.

The match day thread moaners seem to come out in force slagging every player and the manager off. Hopefully it settles down, but tends to take longer these days.

We have some excellent players and coaches with the best board in the business. If it proves to be another unsuccessful campaign they'll address it. We aren't facing decades of decline so I'm not too concerned. We will turn it around.

Yesterday was wank though!

Yea I started supporting City in the mid 90s too at the age of 9. They truly were dark days. I come from a family of reds on my dad's side and Bolton on my mother's (chose City as my big sister picked United and I wanted wind her and my dad up!). Both regularly finished above us between the mid 90s to mid 00s. Pearce Era was particularly dreadful though that 06/07 season was downright painful. Today was dreadful but most of us on here have seen a lot worse in our time.
Great story on how you became a blue. Well done for not following the glory trail(well eventually you did :) I was a kid in the 80s and up until the age of 12, I thought we were called Manchester City nil.

It's emotion, mate. Footy does that to us all.

Can any person on this forum who drives a car claim to have never moaned about another driver on the road doing weird stuff? Even losing it, completely?
Forums are like traffic (that's why the term is used). You just got to avoid getting into rage incidents as best you can, and ignore the ones that indicate wrong :)

We should pin this post to every thread.
