Hard To Be Here

That match against the dippers lost us the league. The match shouldn't have gone ahead due to the frozen pitch. Was it an own goal from Dave Watson? I was absolutely gutted as a 13 year old kid.
I think you are right mate on both counts. For all my life we have never had much luck v Dips. You will have been about 17/18 then when Alf Grey disallowed a perfectly good Kevin Reeves goal in the LC semi against then in 1980. In my footballing list of never get overs that is up there with Luton 1983, Porto 2021, FA cup finals 24/25, Spuds 2019 as absolutely shite days/ times in my Blue supporting career.

My dream is ( although I'm not sure my nerves would cope) is that we beat them home and away this season and GIGi saves their two obligatory penalties - one per match for them is the usual. How sweet that would be!!

I never got over the Alf Grey disallowed goal, I don't think he ever reffed us again . I was sixteen at the time sat in the North Stand with my late Dad. It's one of the worst decisions I have ever seen.

Fucking annoying that game. We were much the better side, on a freezing cold Wednesday night. Right near the end they brought on that carrot headed super sub David Fairclough who caused havoc in our defence, Watson slipped and they equalised.

Joined in 2008 and enjoyed many years of great football debate and discussion but it’s almost impossible these days and frankly I rarely bother.
Bloke who’s used 95% of his posts to post negative shit in the politics subforum finds it impossible to bother posting on football on a football forum because it’s too negative.

Fucking lol

Try posting something positive about anything in any thread.

As a regular contributor to the forum, and a fan since 1968, I am looking at the forum tonight, and for large parts of last season, wondering how I can avoid becoming so utterly irritated by mindless comments. Apparently Rico is the least athletic player in the entire league, Cherki will have the flair taken from him, and Pep will ruin Omar Marmoush, just as three examples. Every single one of us feels a defeat, but does it really need to come with comments so devoid of sense or sporting insight because we didn't take away the points and have lost our heads?
In a nutshell we've been spoilt, apathy has set in. Ive felt it a little bit myself, season ticket since 1990/91 season in the kippax as a ten/eleven year old it meant everything every result.....warching us through thin...thin & more thin before we reached the promised land every step on that journey to watch us achieve everything & more than them bastards over the road ever did & to see us win that cherry on the top in instanbul it felt a little bit like.....the end of that journey i suppose, i still have a season ticket i still go to cup finals i still warch every game we play & want us to win with every fibre of my being....but somehow that night in istanbul & completing the journey & the treble, the 4 in a row, the domestic quadruple, the 100pts it's kind of increased the hurt at losing or even drawing some games even more than when we lost ladt week & the week before mcfc ok days & dulled winning games coz its just expected now....its weird, sometimes these days even the huddersfield game its disapointment that 'it was only 2 nil'. I guess that's what the incredible success we've achieved brings to any fan....im sure there are real madrid fans out there that arent too arsed about seeing them lift another la liga or even champions league trophy & dont celebrate it as much as the first trophy they saw them lift. This new breed city fan know nothing but success & expect it maybe thats tge issue with their view on players & the team. Just my view but i think we're in the mix for every trophy this season....liverpool have not been great even though they won the first 5 games....ive seen chelsea back in the day regularly go 10 games unbeaten then lose titles by shitloads of points. We're on a good run & getting fitter by the week & ive every confidence we'll lift silverware this season....& if not its probably what I & alot of like minded blues need is a trophy drought to get the appetite back! Sorry fer the essay & obvious grammatical & spelling fuck up's but im in a hotel room in cape verde a bit pissed lol

Season ticket holder from 1991, you young fucker.:-) Good post though.

Thanks....I look like a FOC though...that's probably been caused through watching city through that era, i mainly blame THAT season under Stuart (as I say) Pearce though!
I think we all aged in that Stuart Pearce season. When we talk about hard watches that was off the scale difficult.

I worked away for 6 months in that Pearce season, the last game I attended was Everton on new year day, samaras got the winner 2-1.. don't think we scored a goal at home for the rest of the season.

Just having a read through the socials and the reaction to Savinho’s new contract.

Seems to be a common theme occurring with lots of negativity coming from overseas ‘fans’

Football would be shit without other opinions, those opinions are not necessarily stupid or devoid of anything. I look at other peoples opinions as opinions and I don't become annoyed that someone dare not to think like I do.

But to address your point regarding oversees fan.

We are almost an oversees club we are owned by an oversees man, we have mainly overseas players and the fan base is the next to morph.

Legacy fans are being eradicated ;-)

We didn't and I think we only scored nine at home all season, Haaland scored that in August.

That was a shocker only to be topped by that ridiculous decision to not disallow that offside goal at old scaffold in 2023.

What it was/is is cheating, pure and simple. The non penalty that was given was an horrendous decision. If you find footage of it, when the ref blows his whistle the rag players are kicking off because they think the ref has blown because THEY'VE committed a foul. Everybody, even them were stunned when he gave a penalty.
