Harry Maguire

If City do not move for Maguire, it will be because the judgement of the managerial team is that he is not worth the asking price, or not suitable for the needs of the team.

I suspect the opinions of supporters comes well down in their considerations.

I think the process is to judge if a player would improve our squad, be good enough to be considered a first 11 contender (with one eye on squad rules i.e. 1, do we have space and 2, home grown players are generally easier to fit in). Once a player is in the category of good enough and good enough to warrant a squad space then it comes down to price and priority. Fan opinion is of practical zero influence.

So for Maguire the thinking is as follows:

1, Good enough - yes
2, Space on the squad list - yes (home grown helps)
3, worth £80m - no more like £60m
4, priority - medium, would be very high if Otamendi left.

Are we going to sign him - highly unlikely.

He wants to sign for us,i think that's clear. He is obviously waiting till the very last moment for that dream to collapse.

I think we are still interested but only on our terms. If that does not happen he will then, with some sadness of what might have been, sign for the rags.

Can get 10's if you think that's the case

Reasonable assessment.

If that was the case, he could just stay at lcfc and hold out til a move to a top club comes off. he won't be getting champs league this year, might as well wait till next year, enjoy it where he is and show more to potential suitors.

Leicester,or any other team, arent going to give him a 5yr contract on 200k/week.

No but it is not a bad move as Leicester will have a decent season, Euros next summer so he will have one eye on his form and place in the england squad. 1 year less on his contract next summer means his fee will go down and his bargaining power on wages goes up.

Would you want to sign for the rags and get involved with that mess.

Staying where he is is not a bad outcome.

The only reason he has been talked up by the media and pundits is for one reason..he is not john stones and john is the new england boo boy now they have had to back off raz
