Hart must play in the final

Yep, cup game or no cup game, after todays showing, any player would be dropped after an inept performance like that.

Gotta be Joe Hart

if Peller wants a trophy he has to start the best team to have a chance to win the cup.

wont win anything else and Willy wont be here next season after that performance, but who cares if he gets the huff with Hart starting instead.

I take it you weren't at the 5-2 against Everton in 1993? Not Martyn Margetson's finest hour.

Caballero was, of course, awful today and shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI next week (although he will).

But pay up his contract and get rid now? That's hardly logical or realistic is it. The scourge of social media is that people have to be more extreme to get their voices heard.

I'm sure someone will advocate killing Caballero before the night is out. Rather than just saying that he shouldn't play on Sunday, and should be sold in summer.

Actually Ric I was, (didn't he get injured tho to be replaced by Dibble ) and you will see that I have already placed a more balanced explanation on the post match thread (616). He shouldn't play on Sunday, or any other time. He is not good enough and a long way from being good enough. I thought the kids made a good account of themselves today, and I believe that we would be no worse off promoting Angus Gunn to the reserve keeper position for at least the rest of the season.

You might not agree with my sentiment, but that is it. (and I normally support the players)

Fair do's mate. I just think saying that we should sack him tonight and pay off his contract for a bad performance is absurd hyperbole and, I presume, would be completely unprecedented. That's the point I was trying to make.

Willy needs to be dropped after today's woeful performance.
Sadly Pellegrini is a charming man and won't do what is necessary.

Point taken lol.... but wasn't the rest of what we did today unprecidented ; )

Ha, fair point.

Back on topic though, this does raise an interesting point. Pellegrini, out of loyalty, will select Caballero I think it's safe to say.

But as an outgoing manager, do the club (namely Begiristain and Soriano, or possibly even higher) step in, and impose a decision on him?

Surely the club are more interested in winning a trophy than protecting Pellegrini's loyalty to certain players?

Sacking the guy is going a bit far as Pep will replace him anyways in the summer. I would rather see Wright play a game before Willy if Hart was out injured.

But I'm one that believes that if your No.1 GK is fit, he should start every game and only be dropped or replaced through injury or bad form.

If Peller's has any sense about him, after todays display, he cant hide behind 'loyalty' as the reason to not to play Hart in the final. We have lost before we start.

I would be interested to know how much input especially Txiki has on team selection, especially at this time.

I'd be amazed if today's team selection wasn't done with the blessing (or indeed insistence) of the club's hierarchy.

There are a number of current players I wouldn't play against Liverpool or any other side we have to face for the remainder of the season but we are stuck with what we have until the summer.

The biggest change has to be in attitude and the way we go about playing our football though.

Its slow , predictable , dull , easy to accommodate by even the most average of oppositions.

It's everything the club say we are not so I don't know who is handing out the PR cards to MP but we are not pleasant on the eye and haven't been for a long time.

Even if Willy had played well, I still wouldn't play him on Sunday. Chances to notch up more honours for the club don't come around to often, so you should always play your best 11.

We have to pick the strongest team against the Pool and that, for me, means Joe is in goal. Remember that Mancini played Joe at Wembley against Wigan even though Costel had played in all previous rounds.

Picking Joe would be the logical thing to do. However, Spock is not our manager and has a habit of being highly illogical!

I shall be watching the game online at 530 am in gisborne!

Agree that Hart must play. You don't need to rest goalkeepers as much as outfield players. If Caballero starts we will make a difficult game even more so.
