From the beeb:

City keeper Joe Hart was visibly stunned when the news of Hargreaves' possible arrival as a new team-mate was revealed to him during a media briefing while he was on England duty ahead of the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales.

He responded when told of the deal: "Pardon? Is he? Wowzers. Where's that come from? Really? I don't know what to make of that. That's been put right on my toes.

"It could be a massive signing. You can tell how important he was.

"I've never been involved with him but I saw a lot of him before and how highly he was regarded when he was at Bayern Munich and at Manchester United.

"He's a huge player and if he's fit and a part of Man City, he'll be another great signing."

Sounds like he was proper shocked. Anyone seen any links to this?

Anyone not shocked. I told me Rag son-in-law two seasons ago that he was done!

I still hope this doesnt happen. Was a liability in United and will be a liability here. Awful cover for De Jong if thats what Mancini is thinking.

Why will he be a liability? If he proves his fitness, great. If not he won't cost us anything. And he would not be cover for NDJ, more likely cover for Yaya during the African Nations Cup. That gives him until January to prove himself, otherwise Mancini will need to be in the market early in the January window.

Shrewd move in my book.

Don't forget the Scum got "Crocky Owen" on a pay as you play deal. Seem to remember him having a bit of an impact in one particular match! Maybe Hargreaves could repay the compliment? In Manciti We Trust!

This is the one:

was never a liability for the rags, he was a star man for them and was great in their european cup final win against chelski. He was simply forced back from injury to quickly again and again, due to his importance as a player and the money they had paid for him. He was never a liability on the pitch and was voted Englands best player at 2006 world cup.

I get the feeling this signing would be a little bit of a test for the back room staff to see if they can get him back to full fitness, weve got some highly paid physio`s etc and no long term injuries at the club.so having a punt on Owen may just give them something of a challenge. Its a no lose situation.so why not.

I can see you clearly know what you're talking about, its not like the guy was voted England's best player at the 2006 World Cup or anything. I remember when he was fit a certain Gareth Barry couldn't get a chance in the England squad so IF, and that a massive IF, he can get back to anywhere near the form he had for United, England and Bayern then he will be a great signing especially on a free and will be top cover for any of our holding midfielders.

Talent wise one of the best CM/DM in football. If he can get through being tackled in training by Barry, NDJ and Milner he can certainly play some part in our season.

Whats to lose if it's pay as u play,
he was top draw and if he helps and it might be a big if, nothing to lose. Good cover in all case.
