Has it been a good/poor season?

Winning the League Cup makes the season one of the best in our history (more so considering we've now won it three times in a row).

But in our recent history, it's been more of a disappointment. I don't blame Pep for that though. We needed to replace Kompany. Losing Laporte and Sane for months didn't help. We clearly needed another left-back before the season started and Angelino was the wrong choice. Aguero getting injured hampered our efforts in the FA and European cups.

It's interesting that with Pep, even a bad season produced two more trophies. We need to tie him down and let him rebuild our defence.

We were the only fans in England who got to see their club lift a major trophy this year.... and last year for that matter.

Agree with this, as city fans we have been spoilt, lifting any trophy is a good season, lifting the league or champions league would have been brilliant, having 4 first team players out in just about every game this season was always going to make it difficult even without the FA cheating for liverpool with the use of VAR, but at least when the champions had the opportunity to show the world it was not VAR who won the league they got thrashed.
We do need to tie Pep down with a longer contract but we also need to give him the tools to do the job, we are now the smallest slowest side in the top flight, the only two things that Pep can not teach

Is this a piss take?
Nope, it certainly isn’t. Only one team can win each of the 5 trophies we competed for. We won 2 of them.
That’s 2 more than we won between 1976-2011.
I’d guess you’ve probably played football yourself at some point in your life, so I’d also guess you’ll appreciate how tough it is to finish top of the pile. Not many people at any level of football ever win a sausage in their whole career, so 2 trophies out of 5 makes a great season for me.
Would I like us to win more? Of course, but I don’t need a fanny wipe if we don’t win anything

I'd give it a 6/10.

Highlights:
Winning the League Cup (last team to lift a trophy infront of their own fans).
De Bruyne player of the year
The Real Madrid performances
Foden's breakthrough to first team player

Low points:
18 points behind Liverpool
Double derby defeats
FA Cup defeat
Lyon
Difficulties in breaking down defensive setups
Not defending well enough
Bernardo's dip in form

We have been spoilt by having two previously great seasons, so a comedown was probably due. However, I don't believe we're miles off.

It's been a transitional season I'd say, after two simply outstanding seasons which were impossible to replicate. A combination of older players getting older, injuries, fatigue (physically and mentally) and officials/VAR have all affected us to differing degrees. We've lacked pace and width which has been fundamental in the previous seasons and we've also lost the sharpness and intensity of our pressing game, which is no surprise given the circumstances.

An injection of young players and different characters is needed to give us a slightly different emphasis going into next season, Torres should no doubt help us bring back some pace and width into the team and I'm excited about Ake, he just seems the right player at the right time. I'd like a bit of bite and aggression with a bit of pace in midfield but Bernardo and Foden are more than capable of producing that. A proper attacking left back would be great for team balance too, but we'll see.

Another 100 plus goals when we all seem to say we miss to many chances ;-)
Another cup lets enjoy.

"A proper attacking left back would be great for team balance too", but we'll see.

A left back that can defend would be good for balance as well:-)

I said at the beginning of the season we were not ready to lose vinny, the new young ones are not ready to take over and be as strong as the class of 2012 on ,we are not ready to lose Sergio by a mile, dave is easier as we have Bernie and phil, not ready to lose dinho the machine and warrior,i think tougher times are ahead
