But I like laughing at your sycophantic clappy ways. Why deny myself this?

Like I said and try harder to understand im not the one whinging about the forum.

Off you pop.

Bayern are a big club and are up with the biggest revenue earners in Europe (5th last season). However, their season tickets start at €175 for adults and they have 16,000 STs under €280, with individual match tickets starting at €19 for adults for most games but even €15 for some games. They are in a lesser league with lower broadcasting revenue than the PL (they got nearly £100m less broadcasting revenue than Arsenal last season) yet still keep prices like that, looking after their fanbase, and are still generating more revenue than Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea… it makes you think PL clubs are doing it all wrong.

Every club could reduce their ticket prices with no meaningful effect on their success. They charge high because they can and not because they have to.

Tickets, Tickets, Tickets.
How and when we sell them, to whom they are sold, the prices charged, our historic loyalty simply discarded, the effect on the match athmosphere.
Huge Supporter frustration stems from that. The prices are much better this year, but the damage is done.
This, this and this.

If you sift through the bullshit, it boils down to tickets…cost, allocations, loyalty, away day fans & tourists, opposition fans, ticket exchanges, etc, etc, etc.

City are constantly meddling, because they employ people who ARE NOT MATCH DAY FANS to set up ever-changing policies and procedures that do not respect the hard-earned money saved and paid for the privilege of watching the club.

Loyal fans, who saved City from becoming a Sheffield Wednesday or Portsmouth, feel disrespected by many of the changes, and feel like the leveraging of their loyalty to help create a greater commercial revenue stream is disloyal to them.

The focus feels like it has been shifted from the hardcore loyal support, sadly much of which is aging out to the point that it’s starting to feel not worth the hassle, to those it can leverage far beyond just a matchday ticket. I’ll be interested to see what Hotel Hospitality packages we are presenting next season…none of which has anything to do with most of the hard-bitten long term loyal support.

Even though City give good lip service, it feels like it is just that. “We will listen, and say the right things as often as possible, but at the end of the day, we will do what we always wanted to do and you’ll have to like it!

For example, a simple thing would have been to designate a large central block of the new North Stand as singing & standing, such that no-one could complain you were stood in front of them and they couldn’t see, and it should have been made available to seasoncard holders from the two singing sections now, with the understanding that their current sections were going to be changed to enforced non-standing for those who want to be close to the action but can’t stand all game.

We all talk a good game about the Yellow, errr, I mean Blue Wall concept, but how about incentivizing people to move to it. Established seasoncard holders from the singing sections get both priority for the move, a chance to place multiple people (mates) together and a 3 year price freeze on a reduced rate ticket.

You want atmosphere, then help create it with incentives so you get it! If I see one more player, or even Pep, trying to gin up the crowd I’m going to die of embarrassment…as should the club!

Now, I realize City have a seasoncard that is one of the cheapest in the League, but let’s not kid ourselves that there are tens of thousands of them, of that they’re desirable to many people.

I think for next season, City should have a Seasoncard reset! They need to have simple, low cost pricing by tier and stand, they need to rebid the seasoncard system…by longevity and grouping people together, and they need to have pre-announced special pricing for Cup competitions, with a ticket use promotion for Wembley visits.

On that last point, they need to make it clear, plain and obvious that anyone who sells the ticket to an away fan that is identified and verified by Stewards is penalized in some way. Seasoncard holders should be able to give their seat to another City fan without any retribution, but away fan celebrating in the City end, or wearing opposition colors and insignia…big no-no!

I grew up in all 3 non-Main Stand sides of Maine Road and the atmosphere was great, people went to the same place every game, relationships developed, and some people even moved around the ground together. It literally felt like going to church with your family for the 3pm Saturday service!

I know, I know…FOC and “OK, Granddad!” but it was a special place, with special friends, win, lose or draw. We all have heightened expectations today, and finding one Manc on the pitch these day, as opposed to half a team, is like searching for the lesser-spotted whooping crane walking around town. Things do change, I get it, so let’s get them to change in a fan-friendly, atmosphere positive, way for the future of the club.

The ownership has done a magnificent job building a team, and a club, that can compete at the highest levels. It has developed and transformed the Commonwealth Stadium, Eastlands and the COMS into a World Class facility to add to the growing number of Etihad branded properties, and they’re just about to put the finishing touches on a 60,000 seat stadium that they might struggle to fill 75% of the time…SO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE THE FAN EXPERIENCE ACTUAL FANS WANT, as opposed to the greatest commercial leverage you can create at their expense. The two are NOT mutually exclusive, but you have to serve the former to achieve the latter, otherwise, you lose what it has meant for over 130 years to be Manchester City.

We were, are, and should always be, the club of the people of Manchester first and foremost. If the club ever loses sight of that, the heart and soul of the club is lost and it really does just become a business endeavour.

I also feel City (because we’re City fans) and PL clubs in general need pulling up in their ticketing arrangements, because I feel like we’re teetering on the edge of a serious incident happening inside the stadium.

A decade ago you’d maybe see the odd Rag in the home stands every now and again at a derby (and not even every derby). Now there are away fans all around the stadium in every game against any well supported side and pretty much every big game at the stadium away fans will be jumping up celebrating goals, goading Blues and getting into arguments and fights break out. Fights are even breaking out in the family stand these days.

It’s not something we should just sit back and accept.

If that means more moaning, then so be it.

Off you pop.
Oooh. Off you pop??? LOL. Clappy? What does that even mean?
Perhaps it means supporters who have been going home and away for 65 years don’t have a say even though we have a very balanced view of life and football.

Still - glad I make you happy. That’s what life’s all about

You mentioned growing up in the non-Main Stand sides of Maine Road. I did the same.
My dad started me off at the scoreboard end in 1955. Older fans would push us little kids to the wall so we could see the players.
Then I moved to The Platt Lane end as it was closest to the Bus Depot so I could make sure I got the football special bus back to Gorse Hill.
Next it was the Kippax level with the edge of the penalty area at the Platt Lane End.
And finally, the corner between the Kippax and Scoreboard end so I could get quick access to firstly my bike and as finances improved my car.

Good memories!!

Platt Lane Stand starting around 6 or 7. Neighbor lady ran one of the concessions in the Main Stand and took me in. I did odds and ends for her and then she walked me into the Platt Lane Stand. Thereafter, went with my Granddad, who had a Main Stand season ticket and dropped me off at a turnstile along the way.

From there, it was North Stand season ticket Section N, Row 10, Seats 1 & 2 for me and my sister (50+ year season ticket holder), 9 rows behind Helen and her bell!

From there, parents were satisfied we were old enough to go in the Kippax. Started out on/by the tunnel by the Platt Lane Stand, then stood with my gf’s Dad and his mates.

All seems a long time ago, esp when I think about the comfy cushion seat in the East Stand mezzanine now. It’s a long way from the old maroon(?) wooden benches I started life on in the Platt Lane Stand!!
